The fix is pretty straight forward. As soon as I finish the first few sets I will mail out to people that want to keep their bimmer right.

This thread actually makes me feel there is hope of fixing my rear shade now... every time I drive the car I sweat out of anger that I am not willing to pay 1300 to get it fixed. It's something that just cant be forgotten until i get it fixed. How long was the job out of curiousity?

hey guys... just saw that part online... was there anything specifically different from the video for your 750i? I saw they didnt list the 750i 2007 as the fix on their website but will take your word. Anything different in the vid I need to be prepared to do for mine? It almost looked like the rivit on the arm that was rounded was on the window side and not the inside? Thanks guys! I'm new to this site but man... I'm going to check it out more often!

I don't think there is anyhting different in the rear sunshade of 2007 and 2006 750. It took me about an hour to fix mine but it would have taken less time if I did not follow the process used in AGM video. I have already discussed what to look for when fixing the sunshade in this thread.
Good luck.

Okay.. sounds good.. just wondered how hard it can be or if its really that simple because their website says an experienced mechanic.

I have not fixed mine yet as I'm really concerned I'm going to greak something. The part that worries me is that grinding out the rivet. Will a Dremel tool work for that? How hard was this? Any other way you would suggest instead of grinding?

Sorry for so many questions and thanks for your help!

I let my mechanic do it.. i think it ran me about $60... I just didnt want to mess it up either and ruin a 1500 sunshade. Works like a charm now..

Where in CA do you live? I was hoping I could use your mechanic to fix mine. I live in south Orange County.

Did you order the part from the German place and had your mechanic fix it, or did he fix it with his own part?

TIA

It came from the german place.... it looked like an easy fix but i didnt want to chance it. for $60 the total 170 cost was nothing compared to the 1500 bmw wanted for a new one that would only break again. I'm sure just a regular dremel tool would work fine when i looked at it. As long as your just hitting that rivit, and not melting the plastic arm it should be pretty easy..

Thanks. I also rather have a mechanic do it than doing it myself. So can you tell me if you live around here (south Orange County, California) and if so can you tell me who the mechanic was so I can use him as well?

TIA

Hey I just read your post and I have the same issue. You have to take the whole rear deck out and then you could take the sun shade assembly off it's a little tricky but you could do it yourself .. I bought this glue from a auto body shop distributer cost me 21$ and it works good its a two step application the brand is 3m ( automix quick fix adhesive)

Ok, thanks. If anyone lives in OC and has done this at your local mechanic I'd like to hear about it.

TIA

Ok guys here is a pick of my shade back in business. I have about 20 pieces. Not here to make money just help out. Btw I would say this is a temp fix but is a good long term solution if u like to keep the shades up.

I would be interested in a set , just in case I run into this problem
with my shade in the future . I do use it a bit so I would rather be
ready than not if I end up having this problem .

I got handy and made a couple of the sliders out of some aluminum extrusion. I can't seem to find the press together rivets though. Anyone have any info on where to get them or even what to search for? I am "eyeballing" them at 1/8 inch, is this correct? Any help is much appreciated. No rush, it'll be a while before it's sunny enough to need them, but I do like to use the shade while driving at night though.

Ok, its been a while since I got the parts from All German Auto. Today at last had it installed! It is great! Works great! I went to Germans Auto in Pompano Beach. Peter worked on it. He did an awesome job! Highly recomend him if you are in the Fort Lauderdale area. He just charged for 1/2 hour labor.

No more worries about this breaking again since the parts are metal not plastic.
