E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Goodyear Run Flats include Road Hazard

Be aware that Goodyear Run Flat tires include a road hazard replacement at no extra charge. One of the tires on my new 2011 128i Coupe had to be replaced when a piece of metal cut the sidewall. The car only had 600 miles on it. At the time it happened my only indication was the "low tire pressure" warning. I brought it to the Union Park BMW dealership in Wilmington, DE where the car was bought. They discovered the cut sidewall. They told me I would have to pay for a new tire. It cost $450 to replace the tire, including mounting and balancing. Subsequently while looking for new tires for another car I own on the Tire Rack website, I checked the report on the Goodyear Eagle LS2 Run Flats on my 128i. The report included the tire warranty information which stated that road hazard replacement was included with the tires at no extra charge. I called up Goodyear and they confirmed this. I then contacted the service manager at Union Park BMW and she still questioned the warranty. It wasn't until we had a three way conversation with a Goodyear customer relations representative (who confirmed the coverage) that she believed me. It will require returning the tire, which thank God I kept. I am supposed to get a refund check from the dealer once the tire is returned and some paper work is processed. It's hard to believe BMW service departments do not know about the Goodyear warranty. Goodyear run flat tires have been used on the 128i since 2009.

So my advice, if you have any problems with your Goodyear run flats, go to a Goodyear dealer, not BMW.

Isn't the LS2 an all-season tire? My '08 128i with Sport Package came with Goodyear NCT5 RFTs but as they are summer tires, I doubt that they are covered by a road hazard warranty.

After wearing out the 2 rears at 24,000 miles, I replaced all 4 with Conti DWS non RFTS for $100 less than the cost of just 2 rear NCT5 tires.

Tom, I looked up the NCT5 run flats on the Tire Rack website. It includes a pdf of the warranty. It's the same warranty as the one listed for my LS2 tires. It appears to cover all Goodyear run flats. Check it out.
