Mileage hit with two bikes on the roof with 35d
With my 335d and four bikes on the roof my mileage dropped from 35 to 25 on the highway. Can anyone comment on the X5 with two bikes? Debating getting the rear tow hook mount for two bikes, and two on the roof or buying a hitch and getting a four bike rack. Thanks.

I carry two bikes on the roof too, but I've never checked my mileage since I am close to the trails (only need to drive on normal roads). Thats a pretty big hit in fuel economy though.

Not exactly a direct answer to the original question, but I use the tow rack for two bikes and drove 120 miles (two way) to my favorite trail. Crossbars on the roof, nothing attached. Did not notice much of a mpg hit with my 35i at all.
