'07 328i *Warning Lights Please Help*
Good Morning. I have a 2007 328i and was away for work for 10 days so my car sat in the driveway. When I came home and started my car back up I suddenly have all these warning lights on that were not there before. There is BRAKE, ABS, the triangle with exclamation and circle around it, and the in a big circle is ABS again where the time and temp usually are.
Can anyone please help me to identify why these have all suddenly come on and let me know a possible solution and if I have to bring my car in what I sould expect to be billed for? You help is greatly appreciated!!! |

There is a defect in your braking system which is affecting the anti-lock brakes and the associated dynamic stability control. I would advise getting the car flat-bedded, rather than drive, to the dealership to be totally safe. It might be just a fuse, or it might be a more signficant issue. I would not risk driving.

Or it may be a low battery.

It means your midsection is getting a little flabby and you need to do situps. I just got the PECS warning, so I had to do some pushups. Damn you bmw.

The car is completely drivable however don't do any power sliding, tailgating or wide open throttle around corners. Worst case scenario is that the ABS is not working but normal braking is and you have no stability control which you don't need under normal driving conditions. The problem could be anything from your speed/abs sensor, steering angle sensor or worst the DSC control module gone bad. The highest cost of repair I've seen quoted from the dealer to fix this is around $1200-$1400. Drive safely to the dealer or an independent auto repair shop and have them use the diagnostic machine to pull the codes associated with this problem.

Oddly enough, my wife's 2007 328i has been doing the same thing intermittently until the other day, when it stayed on for a couple of days. I took it to a shop this morning and the car was back to normal.
Mechanic says there were no codes stored so he couldn't tell me what's wrong, for me to wait until it came back on and bring it back. Did you ever get a resolution to your issue? I am starting to fear that this car is going to be problematic. Window regulators, coils,etc.... ![]() Thanks |

I just recently took my car to independent mechanic and got the error code read. The code shows a 5DF0 fault which is a defective abs hydraulic DSC pump. The total cost with labor and fees is $1042. The part is only $530 + labor.
Now here is where it gets complicated. Based on research online for previous model BMWs with the same problem almost none ended up being a bad pump. Most were the control module attached to the pump. So I'm slightly skeptical about the car giving the right code. I'm still doing more research and will decide where to go from here before I spend the $1000 to fix it only to find out that wasn't the problem . We will see.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will try and get the code read again tomorrow and keep you updated.
Perhaps we can help each other out. Goodnight0 |

After taking it to Autozone and my regular non BMW mechanic without any success. Car kept saying no codes found.
Anyway, I took it to the dealership and it was the HYDRO unit/pump. 1147.24 later and the lights were off the car was back to normal. The next morning, my wife calls to tell me her lights came back on. Upset, I go back to the dealer and tell the service tech, " Don't come back and tell me it's something else in addition to this pump, if that's the case, you incorrectly diagnosed it and I want you to remove the pump, because I'm buying a Honda" We both got a a kick out of it. Anyway, he says they incorrectly did something to the cpu, had to reboot or something and now it's fine. I bitched about having to waste 2 hours to get it resolved and I got a synthetic oil change for 49.00 bucks!

Glad to hear that you finally got it fixed. Please keep us posted if anything else develops. I have a feeling we will see more people with failures like this.

My car just experienced this same issue. It happened when I was on a road trip. When I got home, the TPMS light also illuminated but tire pressure is fine. I'm curious if anyone else has had all four warning lights and if it is any different?
