Climate control/ZLS-Yes or NO
Well...as my endeavor to build my first dream machine is progressing....I need a suggestion.
I stay in Boston. ..so I am exposed to extreme temperatures although consistent. With the new 2012 packages: Climate control is offered as part of luxury package which also offers power rear shade, active front seats and ventilated seats--2400$ Among these, I really need the climate control and the power rear shade. I can get the power rear shade as an individual option for 575$. That leaves me with the question: Can I forgo 4-zone climate control? . Will the heat/ac from the front vents be adequate to cool/heat the rear side. Are they powerful enough? I am really not that interested in the active seats as I just drive to work 15 min and rarely drive long drives. I would be saving close to 2K. Is it worth it. Please advice Thanks DS |

It'a all subjective. People who have 4-zone CC, will tell you that you can't live without it. People who don't have this option will tell you to save money.
I don't have it, and in HOT California weather and black leather interior, the back gets cooled down quickly enough, so I think you should be able to save 2K

Do you drive to work with the back seat occupied? If not, then it is a no brainer, let it go. It all depends on the utilization of the back seat IMO.
I have the 4-zone climate (and the other items you are talking about), because we have a 4 yr old, and we want him to be comfortable in the back. But in the end, what I did not think about was the fact that you cannot control the rear controls from the front. Just like you are not able to control the RES from the front, unlike say, child friendly SUVs, as this is a luxury sedan... So to summarize, for me, rear climate control would become handy when I have an adult traveling in the rear, which is yet to occur... The sunshades however, you have to get them... No questions... |
