118 service reminder reset

Just had a service on my 2007 118I done by a NON BMW mechanic. He was unable to reset the service reminder. Does anyone know how to reset it. I have found that if I took it to a BMW dealer they would refuse to reset it on bull**** grounds.Robin

Hope it works...let us know if this works for the 118i .....mine is in the garage (at friends) and waiting from it to come back......and I will have to do the same......

Other issue I have is that its done 133,000km and the auto trans thumps in first gear....

Bythe way do u know what oil to use for trans oil for 118i E87 (2005) and any procedures on you tube or other forums....

I tried this on my E87 (118i- 2005)

Insert Key
Press start (do not press break or the car will start), to get to inginiton.
Press the Tacho knob until u see the service menu,
press the button on the indicator lever,
you will see the the resetting options,
chose the setting and then change the date

if unsure let me know ...ta
