91 850 - Got my Wokke chips installed, what is the best trans chip?

I got my Wokke chips installed in my 91 850I with ease, and it is running very smooth.. Now I am curious, Is the a transmission chip necessary? Is there much difference with one? If so, which chip should be purchased, and where is the best place to get it?

Just scanning posts on 850i chips and saw your thread...

I too am planning on purchasing the Wokke performance chip set for my 1991 E31 BMW 850i (automatic) and also the DINAN transmission chip.

I interested about how you like the setup?

Thanks for your thoughts!!

I apologize for just replying - hopefully this feedback offers some good information for you.

Although I purchased WOKKE's E31 chip set back in December, I didn't install it until today.

WOW!! What a difference... The throttle is much more crisp and responsive, acceleration is robust, and the car shifts at higher rpm thereby resulting in more power.

I purchased a DINAN transmission chip as well but didn't install it today. I plan on doing this sometime later this week. When I disconnected the battery I saw the box in the trunk on the passenger side forward on the battery. It shouldn't be a big deal.

By the way, I have the later version DME's and the WOKKE chips went in very easily. The EML was somewhat difficult and probably took two hours or more. I studied WOKKE's instructions but ended up experimenting a bit while trying to be cautious. I consider myself to be mechanically inclined and not shy about taking on a big project. Still, The EML was somewhat daunting and I was elated when the car started on the first turn of the key after install.

I Highly recommend this setup!
