Defective rear wiring harness

2010 528XI build date 10/10. I had my right rear lights wiring harness replaced 5 weeks ago, back to the dealer this weekend to have the left replaced. SA said it was just multiple burnt out bulbs which all went out again before I left the lot. It went back in and they replaced the harness. The engineer complained that they should have replaced both at the same time since they are "know" to be defective. SA apologized and said they used to replace both, but was informed by BMW that they cannot replace the harness unless it tests defective. Dealers are pissed because it makes them look bad

I had my right rear harness in my 08 535 replaced about a month ago. Glad to know this is another issue they didn't address in the new model.

2nd time in 6 months for me. Both times on the rear driver's side. Just had it done last Saturday. 08' 528Xi CPO.

Hello, did any of you have to pay for the new harness? Just trying to get an idea of what $$$ I am looking at?
My car is out of warranty and I have the same issue. Driver side rear light array is burning through bulbs.

Had mine replaced a while ago.

I don't know the $$ but it isn't just the harness that is the problem (for me anyway), The electrical arcing ate up the metal tabs on the plug socket on the light housing.

Just unplug the harness yourself and take a look at the connections to see what you have to repair/replace.
