LCI with steering fix, why no track pics?

Much speculation on the upcoming LCI discusses the much needed steering fix. Although it would be great I am worried not to see any spy pics of the car being evaluated on a the Ring where you would expect it to be if they were altering handling and steering characteristics. So far all the shots show city driving only, not the venue one would pick for handling tuning rather cosmetic changes only.

Earlier people mentioned that their CA's had said there would be more info in Feb. Anyone hear anything?

Steering is electrical on the F10. Any improvement would most likely be software updates independent of the LCI.

However I don't suspect any steering software updates as BMW would have to admit they got it wrong.

They're already admitted it with the "Straight Ahead Driving" software update...!!!

The steering on F series chassis models just plain SUCKS.

They already did when they gave the M5 hydraulic steering.

Why no track pix? Well it's not M cars so they are not chasing records and BMW's private test tracks might be deemed sufficient together with road testing in order to test the cummicative aspects of the steering. It's supposedly more feel they are looking for which is not neccessarily equivalent with performance.

I don't see the big deal in this. I'm positive they have done testing on the "Ring" for the current NON-LCI model. I've seen spy pics as well. Still SUCKED. In fact, you know it SUCKS even in daily, slight spirited driving.

It's the person that is driving the test car that makes the difference. They must have hired senior citizens this round to test their cars.

I do not find it that bad. EPS is here to stay on all cars.

It's not bad compared to Toyota's.

It's very bad compared to older BMW's.

I'm sure my observations can be refuted, but I notice here on the boards that 2011 F10 owners tend to be vocal about lack in steering feel more so than 2012/13 owners, so any software change made post 2011?

Either that or folks who seem to be satisfied with it are new to the marque.

No changes still electric, there was a global software update and some claimed a slight difference in steering feel. Could be a placebo effect of a software reload.

Critics and so called enthusiasts with herd mentality said that the hydraulic steering in the F10 is better than the EPS version in the F10 - but read this http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=789625

There's a software update. I got mine updated. It makes the steering slightly heavier.

It is better than before, but still way much worse than older BMW (E46, E39, E36, etc).

Douggie, where are you based and which F10 model do you have (so that I can understand your F10's lag etc)? 520i or 523i?

Does yours have SAT sport auto transmission, with the toggle switch (sport/normal or comfort)?

I have no complaints about the EPS. I came from an E70 X5 and that was tiring enough for me to drive around the city.

Yes with SAT and toggle switch. But only normal and sport mode. No comfort nor Eco modes.
