BMW Office
This may have been discussed before but has anyone been able to get the BMW Office function to work? I have an HTC EVO 4G that synchs, answers calls, displays contacts and pictures but will not display text messages or emails. When I enter Office via the idrive, contacts appear, the message option, but will not download texts or emails. Apparently my phone has not been tested yet according to the website. Any ideas, remedies? Sounds like a great feature if I can make it work!

No problems with BB Torch. I have Tasks, Calendar, Reminders, Email, Text messages. Works very well.
Corrected, see Me530 below And BB Torch is the only phone that works today with all functions. Last edited by Oslo; 08-23-2011 at 11:55 AM. |

The office functionality only fully works with Blackberries, and then only Blackberries on OS6 or higher.

Interesting I wonder if they'll have any updates that will allow other phones to use this service? I sent BMWUSA an email. Not a big deal just would like to use all features the car has.

Any word on the iphone5/4S?
also, would the "Bimmertech's" retrofit allow the iphone 4 or 5/4S to take advantage of the office functionality?

It's more of BMW fully supporting the Bleuetooth MAP Standard that has been out awhile. Blackbery fully implements and uses it on OS6. Android is hit and miss depending on hardware platform and OS version. Apple has always been late to the game on supporting any bluetooth standard other that (HFC) Handfree calling. It took them for ever to adopt A2DP and AVRCP that other platforms had years before.

Has anyone tried it with the new BB 9900/9930 Bold Touch (preferably the CDMA Verizon model)? I don't want to upgrade if the phone won't work with Office.

I have an F25 X3 (Jan '11 build) and just got the BB Bold (99xx) and it does work. BUT, it takes about 8 minutes for the phone to download all data (contacts, phonebook, email). I don't have that many contacts, and have limited the email held on the BB to 15 days. The filter function does nothing to help. Intrestingly, I also use the phone on a 2010 F60 550i, and it takes just a minute to download the phonebook only (no office on that car of course).
Problems arise when you receive or try to make a call during the download. Best case it has to reload all the data again from the beginning, but often the BB freezes up and you have to shut everything down and start over. This is a real annoyance when you are running around town doing errands, stopping every few minutes. What I would really appreciated would be a way to control when I want to download the email or just go with the phonebook. In the end, if this cannot be fixed, I would prefer to diable the office function - but donlt know how. |

Mark the BB in the Bluetooth Phone list, and press Option. Go into Configure Device and unmark Office.

My EVO 3D works. I can't reply but the messages are there. Make sure you have MAP enabled under Advanced Bluetooth Settings and that you select "All" messages not just Service messages.

Are these settings on the phone or car? I don't have anything under advanced bluetooth settings but FTP on/off as an option on my regular EVO.

The MAP setting is on my phone, not sure about the EVO 4G. The messages option is in the Idrive.

Thanks. I was able to turn off the Office function. Your instructions were pretty close (I have a US Version and the iDrive menus are slightly different. Now I know how to turn it on when I am planning a longer drive - the long time it takes to download will really inconvenient.

It's just the pictures of your contacts when associated with a phone number. It won't show pictures from my picture gallery.

Anybody been successful with a Droid? Mine worked -- ONCE. (It's a Droid X on Verizon.) When I go to Office > Messages, I'm still seeing emails from early September that I've long since deleted, and nothing new shows up.

I don't get any emails on my office only text messages and that is sporadic. Anyone know how to fix that, BB 9900
