Window Trim

What is the correct factory name for the trim that goes around the top and side of the windows? I have been searching for it online and have not seen it anywhere. Also, as I have chrome 7 series wheels, what do yall think about chrome instead of black?

I like the chrome look, as long as it is tastefully done. Nothing crazy like 26s or anything. Just because I live in Memphis does not mean I have to look like it.

Nope, all chrome on BMWs is dreadful.

Maybe the city of Memphis has warped my mind. I did find the name. Roofledge trim. Thank you for all of yalls help.

One place it does belong, and you have it on your car, Ed. In fact, most of us with E36s do. The chrome trim on the kidneys.

Sorry, but that is one common mod that I do not like on a dark color car. Hellrot, Dakar, AW and some of the light blues and grays look good with blacked out kidneys, but not on the dark blues or greens and definitely not on a black car. It makes the most distinctive look of a BMW almost disappear.

I stand by this statement.

Went this morning to the dealer and got them down to 109 per side on the roofline trim. Went to a local bodyshop and they are going to sand and paint them both for 80 dollars.

Is the body shop going to actually remove the trim, strip off the old rubberized coating, paint it, and then reinstall it? That's the only way to re-use the existing trim if you want it to look good for the long-term, IMO.

They did not mention removal however they said they would sand it and repaint it for 80 bucks.

Damn 80 bucks? I did this myself a long time back and although it was a pita, i would def not pay $80 for it...
