Mein Auto: 1993 318i 4 door sedan
Question excellent over-all, one questionable flaw

Thinking of purchasing 1993 318i 4 door. Former owner had new front window motors installed, drivers side works ok(door panel slightly askew), but passenger window does not close completely( inch gap ) and the door panel is barely attached, but with all the pieces present. The price and value of the car seem right, but not if this is a costly or prolonged fix. Any input on repair experience/familiarity welcome. Tom Mic

Whether or not this car is going to be expensive to get into shape is entirely dependent on the maintenance history. Most E36s have not been maintained to the level needed to allow them to be inexpensive cars to own up front (many of us bought ours and then spent the next year getting caught up on maintenance). Maintenance is fairly cheap if you can do the work yourself, but expensive if you can't. Read this thread:

window issue is probably the small white plastic sliders in the rail by the sounds of it, could be wrong, but if so its like 12 bucks for 2 new ones from the stealership.
