Help in buying X3

Should I order and take delivery of a 2011 or wait a couple of months for the 2012 model? With the new GPS arrow on the dash, is there any reason to order HUD? Is invoice as cheap as it is going to get?

I apprecaite any help. Last purchase was 2005 when we picked up a 3 & 5 in Munich.

I can't help much with with the 2011/2012 decision, but I have a few thoughts. I took my delivery of my X3 35i last week, and I'm happy with my 2011. Yours, if you order now, will be one of the last built for the 2011 model year. Negotiate the heck out of the dealer on price. Even at Invoice the dealership makes money.

Participating in certain BMW events has gained some people a $1000 discount over what they have negotiated with the dealer. If you wait for 2012 then keep an eye out for X3-related BMW events in your area. For a 2011 or a 2012, as a BMW owner, you may also be eligible for a BMW Loyalty discount. Make sure that you ask about it.

HUD was one of the few option that I passed on. I couldn't find enough value in it to justify the cost. I did a 150-mile road trip this weekend, using the NAV system. I'm still learning it, but I found the turn directions in the center of the driver's display to be helpful. My big negative is that I'm used to having the speed limit displayed onscreen by Garmin, and the BMW NAV does not do that.

Unless you buy off the dealer's lot the decision is already made -- you will be getting a '12 MY X3.

Is the Loyalty discount only applied when you lease or finance with BMWFS?

I don't believe so. I am getting the loyalty award for the X3 I just ordered based on us owning a BMW presently (you might have to own a relatively current model, but that is not an issue as we bought a Z4 only a few months ago). I am not leasing the X3 or using BMW financing. I did have to keep reminding the sales rep to include it on the sales sheet/contract, however.

I'm currently leasing 2011 328i convertible and going to pay cash for 2012 X3 (just ordered last week). My dealer said they are not sure if I can get $1000 loyalty cash or not until they have a VIN# for my X3. The other dealer I visited recently told me that I could get $1000 loyalty cash for 2011 for sure but for 2012 X3, it has to go through BMWFS. I'm confused now. Any 2012 X3 owners out there got $1000 loyalty rebate without leasing/financing through BMWFS?
