Personalized X3 Build Video...When?

My X3 production was completed on Friday (8/19). I've been checking the owners site on bmwusa.com for my personalized video, but nothing yet. Am I looking in the right place? Any idea when I can expect it to be available? Thanks!

I picked my x3 up on 8/17 but my video is still missing. Do not hold your breath then...

BMW will send you an e-mail saying "Your BMW X3 video is ready". At least that is what I got about a week before it showed up at the dealer.

My X3 was delivered last week also, and still no video.

My video showed up today, 17 days after production was completed, and 7 days after delivery. I haven't received the e-mail from BMW telling me that the video is ready.

So it took 10 days from end of production to delivery? I am still waiting mine.

I'm glad that yours arrived. Our X3s are so similar that I was going to offer you a link to my video as a temporary substitute, but that's no longer necessary. Did you get an e-mail, or just find it on the BMW USA site like I did?

I thought the production video would be sent during the production. What is good about receiving the video after X3 arrived? . It is misleading......
I ordered a 2012 X3 28i on 9/24 (Sat) went to SC on 9/29(Mon) is still in process. I hope I will get X3 before November or first snow. In the status check, my X3 picture shows the ordered 18" wheels, but the color is in deep sea silver. It should be in titanium silver.

Well that's a bummer. My wife's 35i went into production today and I had her all excited by telling her we'd get to see it as it's being built. Guess not! Don't even get to track a ship across the Atlantic as I did with my F10.

Are we fooling ourselves? Or, are we being fooled? Wife's X3 is supposed to start assembly today according to CA. This morning I received an email from BMW that the video is ready for viewing. Nice video....but...half the video show a blue car assembly (not a primer but final color), the balance mineral silver. Wife bought mineral silver. I could not ascertain the interior color as ordered.....although the wheels were correct. I question the authenticity of a "custom video of your car"

I checked the video again. No, we are not being fooled. Many of the operations are generic. But when it's your car (about 25% of the video), the vin # is displayed in the lower right corner. I apologize for my cynicism.

There are six cameras along the assembly line. About half of the video is generic. The remainder is custom to your car. The first time that you will see your car is after the VIN number has been applied. The images that are custom will all include a white box in the video, and, as you noticed, the VIN will be in the lower right corner.

I was giving BMW more credit than they may deserve - my car is Deep Sea Blue, so the color is consistent throughout my video. I assumed that they had stock footage of each color, and just spliced in the custom pieces.

Two full weeks after ordering an X3, I have been checking the status everyday, and finally the photo of the X3 has been changed to the titanium silver as the order. Happy to see this!

Zcar, this is good! The change to the correct color is a positive sign! Soon enough you'll be in Production, and will then get your personalized Build Video!

Yes, the production has finally started this afternoon! . It is a good chance for receiving the X3 by the end of this month, or am I optimistic?

I got my video two days after production. Zcar, you could still get it by the end of the month. Mine finished production 3 days ago and I am picking it up at the PDC on Oct 31. I probably could have gotten it next week but I decided to wait for PCD.

It would be nice to get it before Oct 31 as my old Jeep plate expairs on 31st. I thought about the PDC, so did I when I got the Z4 in Munich. I wish I did the PDC for Z4. Due to the Z4's long nose and seating in the back, it took me a while to negotiate narrow curves confidently. The training at PDC might be helpful. Enjoy the PDC!

Zcar you'll def. have it before the end of the month. Production takes 5 working days (40 hours total). Once it is released to the carrier (anywhere from 1 to 3 days after production is done) you have it within no time. Mine was released to the carrier July 1st and arrived at the dealer in Michigan on July 2nd!

"Want the Thrill" you are right about the production duration. My X3 production phase was done in one week, and this afternoon it turns onto "finishing & touches" phase. Receiving the car by the end of this month is a very good chance. I am excited! But, Dissapointingly I have not seen any videos of the production stages.

There is not set pattern for when they get the video's done. I was lucky and got mine right away Tuesday morning after my X3 was competed, but others on this forum got their X3 before the video. The tracking site and the video's are a nice service but they should really work on getting the system more accurate and reliable. In my opinion they would be better off not offering the service if they are going to get it right.

Agree! If they cannot do it 100% of time, they should tell me in advance, so I won't be anticipating. I will mention it to my salesman.

I'm curious. Does the plant only work one shift per day, or does the line keep running 24x7, which would mean that an X3 is finished in less than 2 days?

Plant is not running 24/7. Takes a full five days to build the X3.
