If you don't drive it like John Force, and service it every couple of years (ignore what BMW says about "lifetime" trans fluid...it's a lie) it will probably last at least another 50k. The one in my '95 318 has almost 231K miles, but the little four-banger doesn't beat on a transmission like a six does. If/when it goes out, buy a used one for a few hundred and keep going, or do a 5 speed swap and enjoy the car even more.
