Auto Trans price

Just curious about how much it will cost when it finally dies. I have previously owned 2 American cars and an Nissan, so I have no idea what such a repair on a BMW will cost. Hopefully it will go another 100,000 mi, but yall on here don't seem to have high hopes for the auto trans.

If you don't drive it like John Force, and service it every couple of years (ignore what BMW says about "lifetime" trans's a lie) it will probably last at least another 50k. The one in my '95 318 has almost 231K miles, but the little four-banger doesn't beat on a transmission like a six does. If/when it goes out, buy a used one for a few hundred and keep going, or do a 5 speed swap and enjoy the car even more.

shouldn't cost more than a grand with labor, if you're lucky enough to find a used one
