Does an impreza stand a chance

I know a few peeps that have imprezas and they reckon that they will eat an m3 evo convertible for breakfast. Is this the case or would they be embarrassed?

Really?! Yours DRIVE?!?

You should really work on your communication..
You leave too much open for assumption, and interpretation.

What year(s) vs. ??
Prepped cars or Stock?
Meatheads or Normal people?
Driver skill or No?

Or did you just want someone to encourage you?

hmm.. i wonder if this is where the term "stoked" came from.. I bet hes psyched!

Yeah good one. I have a 1999 m3 evo convertible and it's stock, no driver skill, normal lads really not meatheads, just having fun. The imprezas are stock apart from exhaust and air filters. Think they are 1994-1996 model imprezas, jap imports as well. Just wondering because I haven't given it a go yet but I suppose there is only one way to find out.

I think you'll have em..
unless its a tuned H4..WRX..or STi..
here is some power numbers.. they might help.. clickyclicky
and here are some dyno graphs.. clickytwo

1993 Subaru Impreza L 0-60 mph 10.5 Quarter mile 17.7
1993 Subaru Impreza L Wagon 0-60 mph 12.6 Quarter mile 18.8
1993 Subaru Impreza LS AWD 0-60 mph 12.0 Quarter mile 18.6
1997 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS 0-60 mph 8.2 Quarter mile 16.2
1998 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS 0-60 mph 7.9 Quarter mile 15.8

1995 E36 BMW M3 3.0L 0-60 mph 6.2 Quarter mile 14.6
1995 E36 BMW M3 3.0L LTW 0-60 mph 5.3 Quarter mile 13.9
1996 E36 BMW M3 3.2L Auto 0-60 mph 6.7 Quarter mile 15.3
1996 E36 BMW M3 3.2L Lux 0-60 mph 6.6 Quarter mile 14.9
1998 E36 BMW M3 3.2L Sedan 0-60 mph 5.5 Quarter mile 14.0

Ditch the extra weight.
Make sure you're at your lightest.. less than 1/4 tank of gas.. proper tire inflation.. no extra weight in the car.. good oil.. clean filters.. dialed suspension.. etc..

Get him when hes at his heaviest... full tank of gas.. weak tires.. low tire pressure.. etc..

Watch out for too high/too low RPM's at launch..
Too high and you'll burn out.. losing traction.. and the hole shot.
Too low and you'll bog down and have too much traction.. and lose the hole shot.

Get it just right.. and it will toss your balls into the boot!

They are wrx sti's so they have a standard 240 to 280bhp and hit 60 in about 5.5 secs.

I should have asked what side of the pond you were on.

BMW-MANIA i dont know how much you want to spend and what kind of power you want, mine is right at 300whp and 265torque and i have full exhaust system from active auto werke mid pipes headers and their muffler the supercharger kit is around 4500 in cost and the exhuast system also cost about 3000, i do know some what about force induction, give me some more info on what you want out of your car, a daily driver
a track car, drift car... turbos will obviously cost way more.

old thread but i found it a funny and interesting topic. my answer is... you never know! ive seen old imprezas with a new sti motor swap that would pull some pretty impressive 4 wheel burnout on take off. strip or track? what kind of track? well it all makes the difference on the application. even the late 2.5 rs coupes have a somewhat high profile engine and under 70 mph are extremely maneuverable. i prefer the bimmers though hence i own 3 and im posting on a bimmer forum. sexy, fast, ahead of their time and built by a company with alot of real racing history. subarus are in my opinion one of the best Japanese manufacturers for what their used for, primarily WRC.
