Question F10 owners I need your help!!!

I am an industrial design student at Carnegie Mellon University and my current project is to design a companion product or accessory for the BMW 5 series. My question is, what product or accessory would you want as a BMW owner? It should be something that you can take with you in your car. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Some cool coin/storage insert to put in the ashtray that makes sure the coins are silent when the vehicle is moving

An electric outlet

An electric outlet (similar to wall outlet) so that you can plug in whatever you want. Laptop, tablets, baby bottle warmer etc

Integrated compartment for a space saver spare that would allow us to ditch the RFT's.

Going further out on the tech spectrum, in car camera and module that would allow us to Skype on our iDrive screen.

And crossing over to the dark side, flux-capacitor-powered particle beam weapon that would allow us to vaporize left lane bandits.

Here's a good challenge for you:
Biometric comfort access. Enter, operate and lock the car using
a high-resolution fingerprint scan. It could even save your seat/mirror
settings unique from your spouse/authorized passenger. As PsychDoc
says, our key is the size of Nebraska. How cool would that be to make
it obsolete?

my ideas
1. a cleaning solution for leather seats (particularly for lighter colors) similar to oven cleaner where you press the button overnight and the seats auto-clean and the owner simply has to wipe the dirt off the top or clean the dirt out of a filter
2. an analytics report that advises the driver how he/she can alter driving behavior to improve gas mileage
3. i agree on the idea to make the key obsolete

Yup, it should be a carbon fiber FOLDING bicycle. thats to-go.
it should be an electric self - charged bicycle.

and ideally have some space to fit in the trunk (say where the spare used to be? )

In that way you can use it for commute. You park outside the city, and entering it with the bike...or for emergencies if your RFT's betray you...

here is another one: its software-based...

I would like to be able to broadcast what my cameras see (from my vehicle)
(front rear side)
straight on my iPhone from a secure server.
In that way I can inspect if weird people go around it.. or any ticket freaks
are around...
a proximity sensor along with some "unusual motion" analytics,
will send me a notice on my phone to start broadcast...

I was dreaming this since childhood...come on CMU make it happen !
you should be able to do it with web streaming..etc

even better, I would like to look on my car key fob (since its so big a tiny camera
will fit,)
perform iris recognition or fingerprinting and start my car

also my iPhone should be able to lock/unlock the car via the same principle...

How about BMW apps for us Android phone owners?

I like the idea above of activating the cameras remotely. Building on that, how about the ability to capture video (say, 30 minutes) from any/all of the cameras. For example, I would have loved to capture my two laps on the Nürburgring, then download them via the USB port in the glove box.

A flat charging pad where you can put any device. It can be magnetic or in some other way hold the device so it won't slip off. It will charge your device as well as instantly sync it to your vehicle. Yes the device would have to have the charging pad attachment but I think most devices will have this as a built in feature anyway pretty soon.

Another vote for a "spare tire" light enough to satisfy the German obsession with weight / fuel economy savings and the US driver's reality of bad roads littered with sharp hardware

How about an Anti-idiot, Anti shopping cart force field?....
I'd settle for an instant inflate, proximity activated, auto deployed protection bubble for parking .....yeah that’s the ticket...

Seriously- I'd buy a program/adaptor that enabled Android integration controlled through the I-drive.
