New car woohoo

Hello I am new to the forums and got a 2011 128 yesterday with 10k miles on it. I am happy and loving the drive.

I can recommend the drive my wife and I took to break in my 128i. We travelled cross country from MD. (much closer for you), explored Lassen Volcanic Park, headed west on Rts. 44 & 299 and meandered along 101 all the way into southern Washington. The 128i proved to be the perfect car for the trip.

The 1 Series is a fabulous machine. I got my 135i back in February and love every minute I spend in it. Though I'm not sure I could sit in those seats for a cross country trip, unless there were frequent stops. For that, I think I'd rather take our X5 with the super comfy contour seats.

I found the seats a little firm on a trip (approx. 300 mi.), however, my wife used a memory foam pad from a previous car and said it was great - so may get one.

It's not just the firmness of the seats that would prevent a long road trip for me. The tight suspension is just a bit too rough for anymore than a weekend getaway in my opinion. My car has the M-Sport package so that might have something to do with it. Makes it crazy fun to drive on curvy mountain roads though.

Compared to my last car (see sig), the sport package 135i is positively creamy in it's handling, but compared to the Cadillac STS rental I have this week it's pretty firm. My point, it depends where you are coming from. I'm Driving my 135 750 miles this Sunday and I expect I'll arrive comfortable and happy (as compared to doing the same drive in my Mini).
