amg vs. m3

quick question to all the m3 owners, y are people tryin to compete against the 2004+ mercedes e55 amg on their m3s? isnt it obvious you cant win in a race? im friends with a guy who has an e55 and from driving round in it i c that for less money you get so much more driving the e55. i myself drive a 323i (i know theres no power in that b4 u guys start bad mouthing me) so theres no hating going against bimmers

i only posted it because i know the power of both, sure m3 is better in turns but otherwise...i just want to see y m3 people believe their car is faster in a sr8 line. i know this will royally piss people off but they g2 get there fact st8, m3=less torque less luxury amg=mad fast, looks better, sounds sexy haha, and the list goes on in other words lots of bells and whistles for less money, i like both cars their great but again just want to know what this hype is over the 2 cars

From everything I've read that era E55 is a beast. No question about it. I would hope it would be a beast since it has a supercharger and is 5.4 liters.

Mercedes E55 AMG - 0-60 in 4.5 sec (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/..._amg-road_test)

BMW E90 M3 - 0-60 in 4.4 sec. (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ormance_page_4)

Huh, that's weird...

0-60 doesnt really mean anything it just says its slow to begin with but then all the power that it has kicks in and as so many videos show the opponent gets smoked, i mean u see a ferrari race and e55 and it gets demolished again not 0-60 but after that what it can show

Ya well you can tune a WRX or similiar buggy to over 600 whp but you still have a ricer. The AMG is an AMG; so we all have choices.
If you want a fast machine you could buy a plane.

Okay, I have some free time in-between washing the M (done) and going on a bike ride. Just so you know, the Merc does the 1/4 in 12.7 sec, and the M3 does it in 12.4. So, I guarantee here's what happens:
  1. Maybe the M drivers are looking for you, maybe it's your buddy - no comment
  2. Both cars roll from a stop light, then someone punches it
  3. The M will launch really well if LAUNCHED, but otherwise will still be out of the powerband
  4. The Merc, on the other hand, has 516 ft. lb. of torque at 2,650 rpm. It's going to explode even at low RPM.
  5. So the M is actually faster, but in a typical scenario the Merc is probably "winning"
  6. Street racing is stupid
  7. And I'd rather have the car that's faster, and goes around corners (plus the top comes down, but that's another story )

Time for that ride.

If you want to drag race an M3, you are on the wrong forum.

I ran my 2003 E39 M5 at Thunderhill Raceway a few years ago along with an E55 AMG at the track. The E55 could pull me easily (394 hp) on the straights but I was on his tail again in two turns and passed him with ease. The E55 is a great car for drag racing in a straight line but useless when it has to turn.

Let me repeat this in your text-talk so you'll understand: I ran my M5 w/E55 at track. The E55 was 2 slo in trns. Y wod any1 wnt a e55? M5 2 gd 4 E55.

Aw, let him keep going. It's funny and silly and cute, like when a little kid wraps their arms and legs around your leg, and you keep walking, but the kid really believes they can stop you (or make a valid point on a forum).

Well, for one (of many reasons), you can't get the Merc in a 6MT. Automatics are for girls.
