E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Mein Auto: 2009 BMW 128i Coupe
My first BMW 09' 128i Coupe

So I finally took the plunge and traded in my Rx-8 for a pre-owned 2009 128i Coupe last night! The car has 30,000 miles on it and I love it! I'm not sure exactly what options it has since I purchased it from a Lexus dealership and they didn't know much about the car haha. I'm going to take it into my local BMW dealer and have them give me the run through. The options I'm aware of are Sport package(or M Sport package, not sure), Premium package, Navigation, Cold weather package, and Comfort Access.

I'd love to know any little tips or tricks about the car or BMW's in general. Also my car doesn't have the iPod hookup, just the AUX jack but I would like to add the factory iPod hookup. What would it cost to do that?

I'm curious in your comparison of the power & smoothness of the 128i vs. the RX8. The last rotary motor I had was an early RX2 sedan in the early 1970s. Good power when revved, very smooth, but gas mileage was lousy and the sparkplugs quickly became fouled on the leaded gas of those ancient times.

Enjoy your new car!

The Rx-8 doesn't even compare to the 128i. I put 60,000 miles on my Rx-8 and went through 3 engines! Mind you I never drove the car hard and had it maintained at a Mazda dealership. It guzzled gas, getting 11-15mpg. The engines always ended up having some sort of compression issue after I put about 20,000 miles on them. As far as power goes the Rx-8 gets going pretty well but doesn't do well on hills or inclines. Having only 4 gears with the automatic I found myself in 2nd gear a lot and could just imagine the engine guzzling gas as I revved higher and higher. Smoothness is definitely lacking in the Rx-8, the car gives you a nice jolt when you step on the gas to speed up and it downshifts. I found my mom screaming a lot haha! Needless to say I won't miss my Rx-8!
The 128i on the other hand is everything I expected and more. I test drove ever 3-series from sedan to hardtop convertible and a few 1-series convertibles. Both are great cars but the coupe was perfect for me. It sticks to the road like glue and I can feel the power behind the wheel. Super smooth, I barely feel the car shifting. The sport suspension is also a lot smoother than the suspension on my Rx-8. Overall I love this car!

Congratulations! Relative to your ipod, you may want to review this thread:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...highlight=ipod

It does not discuss the dealer options at much length but the input on the third party option may be useful.

Very nice choice! It is very expensive to add the factory iPod connection, but if you had to pay for new motors in the RX-8, it's probably a drop in the bucket. Just FYI your car does not have sport package/suspension.
