Eco Credit is now $2,500 for 2012 and the $1,730 Nav Option Credit remains.

Same here. Actually it was almost $10,000 off MSRP. Quite a bit cheaper than my 2010, with a few more items!

Excuse my ignorance here but do you negotiate a price first then the dealer subtracts the ECO Credit, Loyalty, and Navi discounts? It seems like the dealer would basically say here is the MSRP, subract all those discounts and that is your price. If that were the case, then I don't see a point to those discounts since it's all negotiations anyways.

You always negotiate the price first. Rebates are something that gets applied after and don't have anything to do with negotiated price. Remember that tax on the car applies before rebates get added.

Does anybody know if you can add the BMW Drive Event of $1,000 on top of these credits?

EVERYTHING is a negotiation!...
I negotiated this deal before they had published pricing, by simply saying "X profit over your cost, and I get any BMW-to****er incentives'... a month later once invoice was published, I added the profit and that was the deal. (I sent them an email and the price was spot on.) If a buyer fails to mention the ECO credit, the Finance guy will NOT say "Oh, we need to take that off"...they'll charge you whatever the price was that you negotiated, but then take the ECO for themselves on the back end.... I seem to recall back in the day when there was a 4500 eco credit, someone posting on how he got a "1000 under" deal, only to discover the dealer made 3500 on him....

Many members do not know that back in 2009 the "$4500" was 'trunk money', or a 'BMW to dealer' incentive... it was not being disclosed to buyers. Then, IIRC this was around the 'cash for clunkers' time, BMW made it public and called it the ECO credit.

The Eco credit is not a rebate so tax only applies after it has been taken off, same thing with the Team USA $1,000. This applies in Calif...other states may be different.

2012 incentives
I just placed an order for a 2012 X5d. Got $2500 Eco, $1000 loyalty, but no nav credit. Dealer says the $1730 nav credit expired last month. Has anyone gotten the credit recently? I ordered mine on 9/24.

We ordered Monday 09/12 and got all 3 credits!
I guess your dealer should make a better research. For any questions about Credits i was calling also BMW financial service before i was talking to my dealer, to make sure no one can play me during a negotiation. |

BS on the nav credit expiration... I ordered this month and got it. Also I just saw a TV commercial advertising it.

Nav credit
Yup, you were all correct. Went back yesterday and added the nav. Got all three credits and a week 40 build. Now I just have to sit back and wait for my new baby.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! |

My x5d quote - Is it good,
Folks,
I am getting ready to order my x5d, and wanted to know if this a decent price or should I do a counter. 2012 BMW X5d Base Price:$56,700 *3rd Row $1,700 *Running Boards $300 *Premium Package $3,500 *Tech Package $1,700 *BMW Apps 250 --------------------------------- Destination $875 MSRP:$65,025 / Sales Price:$58,725 This is for a x5d 2010. I belive this does not have any incentives, so after incentives it would be down to about 53475 + Taxes, Title and Tags. - Thanks, J |

^^^ Why would you not have looked up the invoice price?!?!?
Invoice or their cost is 59650, which is the edmunds invoice items plus 200 trainign and 875 delivery. BIG PROBLEM- this is below the sale price of 58725, and therefore they are already taking SOME of the incentives. They should make 500-1000 on the deal. So 59650. plus 1000 is 60650, then minus the eco is 58150, and minus the nav credit is 1730..so 56420. I'd start out offring them 500, but agree to 750 or 1000. If you have a loyalty credit, a test drive credit or a bmw cca credit those are NOT in my numbers. Your issue is a PRECISE example of why negotiating price- off of MSRP- and not being crisp with the salesman about what they are making and what credits you are using, can lead to problems. GL A

I just negotiated the following deal on my new 2012 X5d over the weekend - week 41 build
2012 X5d Platinum Gray Metallic Cinnamon Brown Nevada Leather Dark Bamboo Trim Sport Package Premium Package Running Boards Space Saver Spare MSRP $63,575 Invoice: $58,995 (includes destination & MACO/training) Final Sale Price: $54,265 Essentially I negotiated $500 over invoice at $59,495, then deducted the credits ($2500 Eco, $1730 Nav, and $1000 Loyalty) to get to the final sale price I thought this was a fair deal and can't wait for the new one. |
