The dealer listed the price at $1200.00 and told me there was tax on it as well (NJ). I refused the coverage, and had to sign in triplicate to do so. Good luck with your decision, you can find plenty of threads in this forum about RFT failures and how road conditions or livng in certain areas can affect the need or desire for insurance.

I paid $1000 for 5 years - already used it once - tire would have cost $460

I paid $1229 late last year. Best investment I have made in a long, long time.

I Paid $990 for 5 years. I ended up with a screw in my tire within the first week and covered cost of replacement ($470) unfortunately doesn't cover scratched rims as BMW managed to do that when replacing the tire.

It seems that most folks are getting 5 yrs of tire/wheel coverage for around $1000-$1300. Anyone get a better deal than this?

I definitely would get it. I have a strong preference for the BMW branded insurance.

The dealer that I am dealing with uses a company called IAS. He uses them as he says they cover curb rash where the BMW policy does not. $1149 for 3yrs and $1399 for 5 yrs.

I was quoted $1800 for 3 years at Rallye. I knew that was way too high. I tried negotiating but they really did not want to move off that price. I declined the coverage. I had a company called Fidelity covering my 08 335. Hassel BMW charged me around $600 for three years back then. I used the coverage around four times with no problems. I called Fidelity Insurance the other day to see if I could buy the coverage myself through them but they told me that I could only purchase coverage through a dealership. Hopefully I do not have too many tire issues as this is the first time I am not covered by tire issues ever on one of my leases.

If you buy this insurance and then change the tires to max performance tires of your choice, I assume they won't cover your new preferred tires would they?

The standard Goodyear warranty is hazzard insurance for 12 months or 12,000 miles and that comes with all of our new cars. 1 year is from when BMW bought the tires too, so the day they went on in Germany (from what I've been told).
I've asked my local dealer if they will sell me $50 hazzard per tier and have not gotten an answer. The Goodyear shop said they would... My dealers plan is a third party plan too, not BMW's or Goodyears's from what I've been shown to date. If it was $595 or something like that, maybe, but over the cost of 4 new RF tires is off the plate for me. That said, it suposedly covers mounting and balancing too, along with rim rash fixing. I've never had a wheel split on me, and only had bubbles in two non-RF's before and poorly bought a 535i with out of round rims that went to the old multispoke 17" BMW rims and were fine. I think that the RF's are the real issue in many of our cases. Wish a spare was an option..... Last edited by Wardman; 10-02-2011 at 04:40 PM. |
