dark graphite II

hi was wondering what your opinion on dark graphite II i saw dark graphite original one and like it will II be any different or pretty close to the original also considering black sapphire. any opinions??

Black is better IMO. DG2 looks like dirty black.

Black looks best when clean. Weekly wash is required.

Never liked it. Neither fish nor fowl. Can't seem to decide what color it really wants to be when it grows up as they say.

Seriously? I have DGII and could not disagree with your dirty black comment more. It's really a matter of preference but I went with the DGII over the black...either color is great though

I could not agree more. I am extremely disappointed with Sparkling Graphite. It looks like dirty black.

Very happy with my DGII. Black too tough to keep clean - spending time i would be washing the car READING THE MANUAL to enhance my driving experience...

I love my DGII after several months.

note sure what the graphite I looks like
but the graphite II is one of the most amazing colors I ' ve ever seen in a car.

First of all this color is different during the day time. Changes shades. Very unique!.

In particular, I consider this color and the space space gray as well as the titanium
the only acceptable and at the same time amazing colors that fit exactly the character of this car.
Black is such a killer makes it look so common -limo as well as the blue.
White makes it look huge and no comment about the rest of the colors..

That's why I got JB as well . It looks so mean yet classy when it is clean.

The original Dark Graphite (aka Sophisto) is stunning. Even looks good when not clean. It's the "sparkles" which were lost when the Japanese company that manufactures them went down after the tsunami that are not present in DG II. If you see the two colors side by side you would be amazed. The original is dynamic, a real head turner. The new one is dull looking.

Yes, it's pretty close. You will miss deep sparkles, but it's not the show stopper.
In any case black is too simple in my opinion - DG is the only option from dark colors..

Here is my Dark Graphite Metallic II with Oyster and Black Dakota Leather and 35% tint.
Keep in mind that these photos are under direct midday sun, in different lighting car looks differently - from black to dark gray

I'm actually ordering the same color combination (DGII with the Oyster/Black interior)... which wood trim did you pick for your car? I'm trying to decide between the Anthracite and the Dark Wood Trim...

I find DG 2 doesn't sparkle as much as DG 1 and consequently it looks darker and more boring. dG1 was better.

Really? I saw DG and DGII side by side and closely studied for about an hour at the dealership and I didn't see any real difference between the 2 colors. It's true that different materials are used but I think the end result is pretty much the same. The comments about looking like "dirty black" are absurd. Please back up your claim by posting photos of a dirty black F10 and DG/DGII and let the members of the forum judge. As one of the other posters said, the color changes in different lights and is very nice color. However, I've owned my F10 with DGII for a month now and I will say it is on the conservative side but a good fit for this executive sedan. I would not get DGII for the sportier M package as a more traditional color like black or white would go better in my opinion. Here's my photo of "dull looking" DGII.

Anthracite.
I've found dark wood looks too fake, especially with light seats - like faux wood in Buick Park Avenue
But beware - it scratches like it was made from paraffin

Same exact comment my wife and I have made walking around one on the dealer's lot. Turned us off pretty quickly. We would have wanted it had they made it little lighter. Too close to black IMO.

We went for Havana Metallic and that color too changes shades 20 times per day! I sort of get sick and tired of it. In the morning I love it, then I hate it, then it stuns me, then it bothers me.... Each sun/cloud/time of the day/angle of looking combination makes it look completely different! I like it about 75% of the time. Weird, ain't it?

Thanks for the photo... that helps. Bummed that it scratches so badly. Worse than the dark wood? My last two cars (not Buicks ), I have had the dark wood and really didn't notice any scratching.

I'd say that there is a difference between DG and DGII, but again - no other options for me..
As about "dirty black" - agreed: here is my close up photo (cropped) of the DGII color under direct sun - this is how camera sees that
Doesn't look black at all. So you can only blame Canon - 20D SLR camera with 24-70/2.8 L lens.

+1 that's why I switched to JB.

I ordered DG. Then, it was forced to DG2. I saw the pic, I decided to cancel it.

Last week meeting friends who have TL dark gray, F10 DG1 and F10 DG2. The DG2 looks similar to the TL regular gray. Whereas, DG1 has a lot of sparkle that makes it unique compared to other cars' gray.

Don't know about other trims, but Anthracite is real nighmare.
I had it scratched even before delivery - and finally got center piece replaced yesterday.

Now have some tiny (like hair) scratches. Looks like even putting your finger to the trim - will scratch it.

If is not there something really annoiyng (like I had cupholder cover moderately scratched - I think it's tint guys who did that - put their tools there..), then just keep more attention (do not put any keys, coins, etc there, never rub during cleaning, etc), and just do not concentrate on them. They will appear, but it will not make car looks really worse or drives bad.
Yes, BMW could did something (my 10 old Lexus is much more scratch resistant than 2 month new BMW), but well, nobody's perfect...

Thanks for the heads up. It's something to consider. Will speak with the dealer today about it.

What did you decide? I too have the DG2, and absolutely love it. Looks great in the sun! For the record, I dig black too!
