Wheels spacers for oem 17x8 style 42

Anyone running spacers on stock wheels? I like my oem style 42's but the fronts looked a little "tucked" in for my taste. What is the proper size to get the front a little further out? 10mm? or 15mm? Also is it common to use spacers in the rear also? What size for the rears recommended?

measure how far the tire is from lining up with the fender first. ecstuning has spacers with extended bolts.

This link will tell you exactly the difference between your current setup and the 42s.

You'll need the offset (ET info) from each rim though.

http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

Note, you'll still need to determine the spacing needed to prevent rubbing or fender rolling though depending on suspension setup.

Everyone has a little bit different taste so I suggest taking a few measurements to figure out where you'd like the wheel to sit. HERE is a pdf explaining how to measure for spacers, and HERE is a link to my selection of spacers. To give you a starting point, I ran 15mm spacers with style 5s on all 4 corners of my old E39 which was heavily lowered.

15mm spacers on all corners. No problems.

SilverE39 that looks great! From the looks of it you could have probably gotten away with 20mm and still had zero rubbing issues.

^ yes, 20mm up front would work. The rears you might have to roll fenders. I'm using 15mm for my 18" Style 42s and it's perfect for all corners.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but those 18" Style 42s look just as good as the M-Pars, if not better!

Purchased from getbmwparts.com.......over 1-1/2 years ago. You can't find them anywhere.

Thank you! That is exactly the picture I need to see. Since the fronts seem to be tucked in more than the rear would 20mm front and 15mm rear be ok?

Well.... not the wide 18x9 but people can find 18x8 squared if they are interested in special orders from Europe.

Yes, I would say it's safe to use 20mm up fronts.

Just (barely) lowered my 2002 530i Sport on coilovers and installed 15mm hub-centric spacers with new lug bolts. I think I'm something like 13.5" from hub center to the top of the wheel arch. I didn't want to lower much and I was already almost scraping curbs when I parked. It looks stock to the layperson, but better than stock (sport package) to my trained eye.
