Space Saver Spare Tire Size for '12 x5

Does is come standard with 18" in size? Forgot to order one with the new '12 model and wondering if the size will work with my 19" rims.

The outside diameter of the tire will be very close . This is what matters.

Good point. Just wanted to make sure BMW doesn't make another spare size for 19" models. I couldn't find one

Nope, same spare kit. If you don't order a spare with your build, you can buy PKE7071SPARE* It is around $350

I'd rather swap the tire then look for NTB in the middle of nowhere Especially with kids in the car

@PoopFaceKillah
Exactly the answer I was looking for. Thanks!

It's an $150 option, but if you forget to order it, it will cost you about $300-$400 last time I checked.

The outside diameter of the 20'' tire is .6 inches smaller than the tires that come stock on the 2011 35d x5.. I will be using my old spare ON MY 2012...I put 20'' on my 2011 and kept them to use on the 2012.. The speedo is off by about 2 miles per hour with my 20''.. I believe the 20'' cost me about 2 miles per gallon .

2 mph at speed? My speedometer is 2 mph off at 75-85 mph, and then the error increases all the way to 10 mph at 130 mph. I have 18" tires. I'm pretty sure this error is normal for all BMWs.

Due do a bit of a mix up (on the dealers side) with some paperwork, my dealer has agreed to sell me this "kit" at their costs. Anyone have any idea of what that might be? I am a trusting sole but have noticed that most say that retail is $350 for the X5 spacesaver kit but knowing how dealers are, they might try and tell me that "Our COST is $300..." I've heard it might be around $180 but don't know how to find out. Thanks in advance for any insight you guys might be able to shed

have you spent any time searching/looking?????? I can recall 2,3,4 threads where people said "i bought my kit from XYZ for $ABC"

Hint: go to getbmwparts.com, look for the spare tire kit. Should be tire, rim, mount, hjack, lug wrench. As I recall

Give bmwconfig a try. And use the configurator to build one with the spare tire. It should list the invoice for options. Here is the link: http://bmwconfig.com/. I have also attached a screen shot. It shows an invoice price of $150.

Paid $150 as an installed "factory option" for a spare in a 2013 X5. Also bought a self-installed hydraulic "lift" for the cargo floor for about $42.00

Hi
The E70 spare is basically a one size fits all regardless if you have 18" rim or 19" rim, the outer diameter is the important factor

You can purchase it here, we do have free shipping in the 48 states.

Thanks!

Yea, I did a LOT of looking. I even found an "official" BMW product number for it (36110007376) with a RETAIL price of $258 on one website or listed peice by peice on this website http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=36&fg=95&hl=3 but the dealer said "That is not a valid part BMW number any longer so I HAVE to build these a part at a time so that is what I am doing but the costs are ALREADY well over $300..."? Odd if you ask me. Why would BMW have created an orderable part number and then revoked it?

I know that a number of authorized Bimmerfest dealers are offering these for just over $300 but that is a resale price, not wholesale/cost price and those are all aftermarket of some type. I would not ask them for their cost because that is not reasonable nor warranted. Ideally, BMW themselves SHOULD have a lower cost than these 3rd-party resellers (since they are larger and have the ability to influence reduced costs simply due to their size & positioning). Under that theory and based on the FACT that we can buy the entire kit (tire, wheel, jack, etc) in the open market for under $350 (see post #4), one would think that the BMW dealer's cost SHOULD be something well south of $200, right? I am fairly certain that dealers make more than 50% markup on most parts so was figuring that their costs should be under $180 or am I being "too logical" about this whole thing? LOL

Guess what...According to the dealership, cost is $285 so the BEST they can offer is $308 after taxes. Not logical AT ALL but I felt I had no other choice so...mo money...LOL

The spare tire FINALLY arrived... today. Only 77 days after ordering it. Shesh! When I first ordered it, they said "no need to put any money down even though it's a special order". After it was in limbo land for over 45 days I paid the bill in full (hoping that some manager would ask why it's still not it and apply some pressure on the order). I've been calling about every 2 weeks and 2 weeks ago they said that Dunlop did not even have a production run scheduled until "late March or early April" so it likely would not come in until then. I called them today because an eBay auction that had the same tire (on a Mazda CX-7 rim) finally replied to my inquiry offering their tire only for the price I had propose of $100. Before I told the guy I would take it, I called my dealer...one last time. So... if any of you want or need one of the tires (only), you may be able to pick it up from this guy (so that you won't have to wait until April for one).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320998045459...S:1123&vxp=mtr

PS - For those of you who have BMW order the individual parts, make certain they remember to order you a valve stem as well. After 77 days of waiting my dealer (term used loosely in this context) "offered" to mount the tire on the rim for the low price of $32.95 + tax (+ no doubt the cost of the part you will read bout next).

I've mounted a few tires myself back in the old days some 35 years ago and I own a air compressor so I figured...I'll just mount it myself. Of course, I get it home and yep, no valve stem in the box with the rim so I am now have a visit planned to Discount Tire in the morning. Knowing those guys, they won't even charge me to do it since we've been repeat customers over the years. BMW gets $60K of my $s and then delays the parts for 2.5 months and then wants additional $'s to mount something that would have come from the factory mounted at 50% of the $300+ price tag vs. A tire place I see about once every 2 to 3 years and spend less than $800 each time yet they treat me like family whereas the BMW dealership...well, lets just say that they better hope and pray that they don't send out "satisfaction letters" to parts buyers who have been waiting for this long. It won't be pretty...LOL
