I'll probably need one sooner or later so add me to the list. Now I have to find out what a DISA valve is, what it does, where it lives, and how difficult the R&R is! LOL

Take no more than 10 min to replace.

To see if I needed a new DISA valve, I checked my old DISA valve today, and it seemed to be, at 105K miles, in decent shape.

Physically moving the valve seemed to work just fine.

Anyway, I put it back, but I 'should' have bought the aftermarket o-ring first instead of using Permatex ultra copper:
- Where to get just the M54 DISA valve o-ring (1)

Only after I put it back did I realize there were about three or four other-than-visual tests that I could have run:
- How to properly test for DISA valve operation on the M54 BMW

We're still short the twenty required. I am going to query Bill Dodge to see what their lower threshold is.

I just joined the BMW CCA Forum after speaking with a CCA Board Member about this. He suggested posting it on their forum. I am awaiting rights to post new threads there. We may get a couple of people from there as well to join in. I'll report back Monday.

Whatever the outcome I am still ready to go on this. Thanks for taking the lead.

OK everyone, here's the deal:

Looks like we have about 15 interested buyers. They have agreed to give us the 30% discount!

The seller is Bill Dodge Auto Group-BMW, Westbrook, ME. The POC is Ron Vose, BMW Parts Dept. His email is rvose@billdodgeautogroup.com Please tell him you are part of the BIMMERFEST GROUP BUY. Their phone number is 207-854-3200. They will set you up with a no cost wholeesale account which will qualify you for discounts going forward. Note: They are a great discount source when you absolutely have to have OEM parts (e.g FSU, CCV, gaskets, etc.).

The part number is 11 61 754 4805 for the M54 3.0l
It's 11 61 754 4806 for the M54 2.5 l
The 2.8 M52 is different.
Please verify with RealOEM for the correct part number for your build date before ordering.
It's under 11-Engine, 40-Intake Manifold, Intake Manifold System.

The discount is 30% and the price is $157.09 for the M54 3.0 DISA valve (retail price is $224.42). The M52 is a little bit more.

That's it! Happy shopping, everyone!

Good deal! BTW, the BMW CCA removed my post (I assume because I included a link to here). So I have no additional buyers to report.

Everyone, - LETS DO THIS -. Thank you Fudman.

I'll order mine tomorrow (payday) and post "Order Placed" as an edit at the bottom of this post.

QUESTION: I drive an 02 530i. Car Manufactured date is 11/2001. I never knew which engine came with it. I assume the standard engine is an M54 3.0 liter hence 5 (series) 30 (3.0 liter).

EDIT

========== ORDER PLACED ===========

They ran out so my order will be processed this Thursday

!!! THANKS FUDMAN and all who participated in the group buy !!!

.

Per RealOEM and your build date for an M54B30, your DISA is a 11 61 754 4805 (same as mine)

I'm interested, but why the additional expense for the M52TU unit? They all have the same MSRP.

11 61 1 440 049 (M52TUB25, M52TUB28) MSRP $224.42
11 61 7 544 805 (M54B30) MSRP $224.42
11 61 7 544 806 (M54B25) MSRP $224.42

Email them for a quote on your MAF. You might be surprised by their pricing. And it's OEM too. Not sure about shipping to Canada though.

Read the bottom of the opening thread. Call the number there andgive the last 5 or 7 digits of your VIN. They will tell you which part you need.
