We recently acquired a 2006 E61 530xi Sports Wagon with 40K miles. The car is fitted with the lovely N52B30 3.0L engine and a GS6X-37BZ six-speed manual transmission, and was built in September, 2005, making it six years old.
Some service work was recently done (and/or CBS items reset), including the engine- and cabin air filters. However, I’m not a big believer in “lifetime fluids”, especially once a car’s powertrain warranty has expired. Accordingly, I think a front-to-back D&F of fluids and other filters is in order. Here’s what I have in mind: Coolant: BMW coolant (part# 82 14 1 467 704) mixed down to 50:50 (~10 liters total)While we’re at it, I’ll also replace the stock clutch delay valve (CDV) with a modified CDV-002 from Zeckhausen. My older son is a Porsche and BMW mechanic, and one of us will assist the other in doing the work. I believe this should do it. Comments, corrections, and/or suggestions are welcome, especially w/r/t the plan for the MT fluid change. Unless there's a compelling reason to do so, I'm really not interested in buying a 5 liter jug of LT3 to do a 1.6 liter job. Thanks! Jim / crewzer
