Lost My Mod Cherry!

All of the servers at work are down so I found myself with some extra time this am. Had been thinking about black performance grills for a while and decided to go for it.

Did it in about 15 minutes. The biggest hassle came from the dealer who by accident gave me two right grills.

Nice - the black on blue always looks good!

[I hope you don't have to explain that they are new grilles and not just soot from the diesel]

(I'm sorry about the last bit, but I do have to maintain my profile as a douche on the forum )

I have nothing to add to this post.

What blue is that?

I've been thinking about doing the black grils on mine (Monaco Blue) for a while. One thing holding me back is that my lower grill mesh is silver, so I'd have to replace or paint it black or it'd look pretty goofy.

But a bit wider shot of the black on a Monaco Blue (or similar) would really help me visualize....

My bimmer is black so I prefer the contrast of the chrome grills but those black grills against your car color does look sweet.

The black grille looks great, but just how exactly does the switch affect performance?

They are worth 10 hp and 15 ft/lbs of torque. Ha!

Wrong, it is to add stealth capabilities to the vehicle by absorbing cops' radar/laser signals so that they can't measure your speed.

That is Deep Sea Blue. Not quite as dark as Monaco Blue, especially in the sun. It's kind of half way between Monaco and Le Mans. There are a couple of festers with Monaco and Black grills. One is the professor but he hasn't been around much lately another is Ronin
I'll try to get a wider shot in better light and post it. That was just the natural light in my garage with the door open.

Yeah not sure why BMW calls them that. Kinda lame. I guess because they are part of the 335is and the 335i performance package.

I'm generally not one for a lot of heavy cosmetic mods but the other two I am considering are LUX H8 and Switching out the chrome badge for gloss black to completely de-chrome it.

As for actual performance mods, if the good folks at Dinan can ever get their tune to the market I'll be a happy man. I'd prefer it to the JBD.

Are you listening Dinan?

Awesome, thanks. I'm on track to figure out how to get the lower grills out to easily paint them (or replace)....no idea why they went with silver on them for however many years it was...althuogh satin race mesh grills might be cool.

Here is a better pic. Hope it helps. It was cloudy out so the blue looks closer to the Monaco here. Compare it to the pic in my sig and you can see how dynamic this color is.

There is no performance package for the 335is, only the E90 335i. The 335is grilles are unique, the surround is actually "black chrome", the slats are black, and the front surface of the slats is chrome.

I actually like the look of the black grilles and that would have been one of my first mods if we'd gotten a 335i, but since the 335is grilles are unique I figure that I really can't replace them!

I'm kinda holding out for the Dinan reflash tune that is supposed to be in the works. I'm unsure of what the JBD will do to the fuel pump over the long term.

Good point.

How about replacing those orange bumper reflectors? ECS Tuning's reflector sale is mostly gone, but it's still not a bad price... http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Clea...ctor/ES205213/

unfortunately those are only for the E92/93.

Have been thinking about similar though.

I just ordered gloss black 335d badge numbers from jlevi.

I think Bimmian has the painted/smoked/clear reflectors. Forgive my ignorance, but is the D an e9x series? You need e90? I know they have those.

The smoked side markers (LED) are also pretty cool and a nice subtle touch.
