Question Z3 hk stereo help please!!

I have a 1997 Z3 2.8 with the HK stereo in it. the head unit got wet so it no longer works. i have found a head unit i like its a Sony DSX-S300BTX and i am wondering if i can just wire that up with the right harness adapter and have the speakers working like normal or are there other things i have to do with the amp?

While I can't address that specific head unit, it is very common to replace the original head unit. In fact, it would be rare to find an original head unit in a 1997. There have been many features that have become available over the years. Usually it's just a matter of connecting the right wires. It can also be as involved as replacing the entire system. It's up to you. Do a search and you will find lots of ideas. You can also go to Crutchfiled.com to get ideas. Crutchfield will also have plug-and-play harnesess available.

ok thx! im just wondering because the stock system has 8 Channels and the aftermarket head units only have 4. some people say that you can just plug and play with a new head unit but others say the whole system has to come out.
