Newbie in need of help!
Hello everybody! I need some expert advice on my first Bimmer purchase. I found a 2012 x5 cpo with 9500 miles. It has the following equipment: Alpine White, Black Nevada leather, Convenience Package, M Sport Package (ZMP), Heads Up Display, Preminum HiFi, BMW Apps.
Retail price was 67,345. Asking price is 57,000. Is this a good price? Should I ask for service records, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

1. You MUST really understand the ACTUAL original MSRP. Dont listen to 'maybe 70 or even 75k'...this could cause you to horribly overpay. 2. The car is one year old with 10k miles. You should target 8-10k under original sale price. Recognize that the original sale price is invoice minus 6-10k (depending on engine/incentives) 3. If indeed the new car is 67k, you should figure out if saving a few K is worth buying used. Pencil out the invoice on a new 2013, add $500 for the profit, subtract all the new car incentives....compare 4. The only value of the CPO is the extended warranty, which adds 2-3k in value. DO NOT assume it is a guarantee of a cherry car...it can still have been in accidents and had repaint, etc. IMO cars like this are sold to people who cannot effectively negotiate purchase prices, and therefore the dealer makes it attractive when compared to 'near MSRP' deals
