GSM phone for a 745Li

Hi All,

New to the forum.
I am looking to upgrade my BMW cell phone from TDMA to GSM.
It seems the carriers consider TDMA "Old Technology". I have to pay for seperate service on the car phone.
Surprise !!! BMW N. America says there is nothing that can be done since my phone is an 8000 series phone not a 9000. Can't update the wiring.
Does anyone have any ideas that will help??
I am also "overjoyed" that the NAV system technology does not allow installation of intergrated satellite radio.
Otherwise - contrary to some other people's experience - this car has been great. The systems have all worked without issue (except the Tire Monitor System).
It is a great road car.
