Capacitor in my 06 e60
Hello everyone. I installed a sweet sound system a couple months ago and I hate how the capacitor looks and I either want to relocate it or move it. I need your help. Here's the story:
I have a jl 12w6 with jl 500/1v2 amp. After installing it, I'd get the battery drain error message almost every time I turned on the car. To combat this, I installed a 1 Farad capacitor and mounted it to the back of the rear seats next to my amp. The problem is that I hate how it looks. I want to either hide it somewhere or remove it but I don't want to get the battery drain error. Has anyone been through this? I welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks! |

Disconnect/cut the capacitor, get a soldering iron and solder [long enough] wires to the leads on the capacitor, place the capacitor behind either of the quarter panel trim.

My subwoofer is a stealth box tucked into the one quarter panel and the other one covers the battery and my car guy and I checked and there is no room there. I have an RF RFC1 Cap. Can someone offer a suggestion of a smaller cap that is 1 farad?

They make a 5 and a 15 farad cap. They are square and much smaller than your average round cap. They are not cheap though but they will most likely fit behind the quarter panel trim.

Thanks those look good. I might go with that unless anyone has a better idea? Does anybody have an alumapro cap installed that can testify that hiding it is 100% possible?

I do have an old 15 Farad, I suppose I can see how it would fit. I'll report back but in the meantime:
Here are the dimentions for the CAP5 Length: 8" Width: 5" Height: 1.6" Oh and if you do end going this route you need to be careful when you install these they have a potentially very dangerous charge/discharge rate. So either follow directions very carefully of have a shop that knows what they are doing perform the install.
