Tracking Question

Hi there... My 2012 535xi has now finished the production process, and I now have the actual VIN. It's currently awaiting shipment. Curious to know how some of you here find out the name of the ship and the delivery date. Would love to keep track of it. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I called the dealer and my CA provided me with the name of the ship.

Congratulations. I'm curious about this as well. My 2012 535i is also "at the port awaiting a shipping vessel". How did you get the VIN?

Mine is at the port waiting for shipping vessel as well. Maybe our cars will be on the same ship? I e-mailed the dealer today and he sent me my VIN. I will call the dealer tomorrow to see if he has specific details about the shipping process. Thanks again for your feedback.

I hope they both ship soon, but since yours is going to east coast, and mine is going to the west coast, probably won't ship together. I think I read somewhere that it's a 4 week voyage to west coast. Hopefully yours won't take quite as long...

Thanks. I'll reach out to my dealer tomorrow here in FL to see what the shipping details are and will post as well.

I ordered my car on 9/18/11, it finished production on 9/28/11. A VIN number was issued as it was in production. Next it aboard Asian Vision on 10/8/11 and shipped out on the same day. I believe the delay for it being shipped out was because the vessel needed to be full of cargo. BMWNA will not have info on shipping info, only your CA. Once your status says "en transit" on your BMWusa account, your CA will have the vessel name an ETA when it touchdowns to the port. Approximately 25 day in the ocean from port to port. Hope this helps.

It looks like my 535i is still at the port, waiting for a ship. I did get a VIN today, so I am pretty happy that it is now officially a vehicle, and not just a production order number. I don't remember being this excited and impatient for Christmas when I was 10 years old....
Have any of you given any thoughts about tire insurance, extended warranty, extended maintenance, clear bra protection?

I haven't heard anything from my dealer today regarding the approximate delivery date of my car. Maybe he had today off.

In answer to your question, I'm seriously thinking about getting the tire insurance given the fact that there have been so many complaints about the "bubble" situation with the tires on the 535i with the sport pkg. As far as the extended warranty is concerned, I have mixed feelings about it. Considering that it's something that can be purchased at a later date, I might take that route when the time comes. Clearbra... I don't think that's necessary here in Florida where I live. I could be wrong.

Glad you got the VIN. Just one step closer! Can't wait to get my new car either. I'll miss my 335i... it's been good to me... but onto bigger and, hopefully, better things.

Even though mine is the non-sport version, therefore with the 18" wheels, I am still kind of leaning towards the tire insurance. I guess it depends on what kind of deal I can get on it. As for the other add-ons, I am thinking like you that it is something I can take care of later if I decide to. Probably no clear bra, but I'm not sure on that one. If I do, I will get it done somewhere other than the dealer.

I know here in Florida, it's a state law that there are no deals where warranties are concerned... so it's $1,299 for the tire warranty. No negotiating that figure, unfortunately.

How many years is that for $1299.00? Peace of mind is hard to put a price tag on, but if that is for three years I believe I will pass. If it's for 5 years..... definitely more tempting. I don't think it's a state law out here to not deal on warranties, but they still might not come down from there.

It's the five year warranty most definitely. So, I'm good with it. Wish it was just a little bit cheaper... but no discounts on warranties out in these parts. )=

Would be nice if it was a little cheaper, but $1299.00 for 5 years isn't really that bad. That's like 1 tire per year. If I had 19" tires like you I would go for that no question. I'm just wondering if the problem is really all that bad with 18" tires. I guess I need to go back and dig through all the old posts and see what percentage of failures were with 19" and up tires.

Just found out that my car is now aboard "California Highway"... ironic, don't you think? It's currently off the coast of France heading my way. I think mid-November is my target date for picking her up from the dealership. Very excited!

Congratulations Jen and Spaghetti. Another step closer. I am hoping I will be on the Undine as well.
800 number and "My BMW" status still says my car is at the port and waiting for a shipping vessel. I will call the dealer tomorrow and see if he has better news than that. Has your status been updated online or by 800 number, or did you get your info from the dealer?

Both online and the 800 number do not show the updated status. I got my info from my dealer. Hope your car is on the Undine too. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.

Thanks. Was beginning to feel left out of the party here. Hopefully dealer will tell me tomorrow that I am on the Undine. By the way, here are a few websites for tracking this ship...

My status has been updated both online and when dialing the 800 number. I e-mailed my dealer and he sent me the name of the ship. Thanks for links to track the vessels. So helpful!

East coast is sure a lot quicker trip than the west coast deliveries. You will be in your car two weeks before us!! I found a couple of tracking sites showing California Highway...
