Oil Pump troubles

there is a massive knocking coming from the oil pump, i realized that my engine was not brand new, its rebuilt. Meaning that all the parts that were damaged were replaced but all the parts that looked okay were kept. Anyways long story short, my oil pump is knocking and i need to fix it.

P.S. all the injector codes and faults were fixed from unplugging the DME and plugging it in 10 minutes later. Thank you Roberto!!

It could be the loose screws that hold the oil pimp in, But i have not heard of them making a knock..more of a rattling tingy sound.

Good point, I forgot about the pump screws on the V-8s. OP; With the oil drained rap the oil pan with a rubber mallett, you'll hear any bolts laying in there bounce around.

There's an oil pressure gauge?

Do you mean the oil pressure warning light on the instrument cluster? That's connected to the oil pressure sensor. Its either on or off.

okay.. where do i start. So, I drained the oil, took the pan off (btw had to melt the rubber gasket, for some reason it wouldnt come off the pan) and voila.. 6 bolts, and the chain was so loose i could almost remove it without taking off the pulley. Sorry I dont have any pictures, my hands were covered in oil the whole time I repaired this. Now, since ive done that earlier today, there have been no noises, no rattles or no weird vibrations. One thing i can say is that this was extremely easy to do, its a lot more intimidating than it seems.

Glad you got it fixed. Even though you didn't take pics, perhaps you could do a write up in a new post to educate us and provide a resource for future searches?

Steve
