In many ways the spiritual successor to the E30 M3. Powered by a M derivitive of the N54 the inline six makes 340hp and giving the 1M a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds. |

Front License Plates
Living in NJ so have to put front plates, but don't want to ruin the bumper.
Don't like the idea of tow hook holder - looks kind of weird. http://www.rhoplate.com/RPBW01-E82.html I am thinking of using double sided mounting tape (same as the one used to attach euro plates) to attach standard plate holder. http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...cat=2000000371 Any other ideas? |

That side mount looks aweful! Not sure about the double sided tape. It rains and snows alot in nj and not sure if the tape can hold up to the elements. In the event your plate falls off you have to return your old plate to dmv and get new plates. Its a pain in the ass and a waste of money. Best bet is to justget the bracket

I guess I'll find out when I get ready to sell my 135i how well the tape comes off. I hear Goo Gone works well for that.

I relented and just let them drill the damned holes. I don't need to get pulled over for nonsense.
I figure if I move to a non-front-plate state, I can get a couple of relatively innocuous little plugs for the holes.

Check out Skene Designs. I am in VA and had to mount my plate as well. I used the one from Skene on my X3 M-Sport bumper. You do screw two holes in the bumper, but it is on the underside of the bumper. If you removed it you wouldn't see the holes unless you were lying on the ground looking up. |

I highly recommend the Skene holder. I use it on my E46 M3, except that I don't drill the holes. Rather, I have magnets mounted to the inside of the bumber and use another set of magnets on the Skene holder as well. It's very secure and will not fall off in daily driving. The trick is having a body shop take your bumper off to mount the magnets...but totally worth it if you have an undrilled bumber to leave unmolested.
