Lemon law rights are statutory however they are much less in favor of the buyer than most people realize. It's not quite as easy as "lemon law car, give me a new one". The manufacturer gets a lot of chances to repair the car, and financially the buyer owes for miles used. Full purchase price less $0.10 per mile is a pretty fair shake.

Taking the warranty is great, but if there are issues, that doesn't take into account time spent at the dealer, lost use of the car, etc, etc. My tune would be a lot different if it was something other than electrical. It would be a lot less likely to return then.

I have decided to do Euro delivery on a 2012 550ix. Thanks for all the valuable feedback.

The dealer has said I do not qualify for $1k loyalty credit since you need to take delivery by Jan 2, 2012. My ED delivery date will be mid to late Jan. There also appears to be another $1k credit as part of new year end offers on BMWUSA website, but there is no detail on what qualifies. Do you think I can get 1 or both of these? In either case, if there are new incentives that come out in Dec, can they be applied to my deal up until I take delivery?
