First Time on the Road

I drove my recently acquired 635 to a local club event yesterday (Street Survival School). It's about a 120 mile trip up I-81 from Hagerstown, MD to Mechanicsburg, PA. I filled the tank before I got on the interstate. It is all level highway so I set the cruise control for 65 mph. Car ran like a top and the RPMs are about 2300 at 65 mph in 5th gear. Topped off the tank at the same station and I achieved 22.7 mpg. Very pleased as with the Dinan chip and lower rear end gear I was expecting around 18 mpg. I'm working on the front seats with leatherique oil to see if I can restore the suppleness. The rear seats look like they have never been sat on. Car gets a lot of looks on the highway and when filling up with gas. Some folks say they have never seen one before. Looks like I do have a small oil leak as there was a small puddle on the garage floor when I returned home. I'll have to have this checked out as well. So far, so good.

Great looking car! I have yet to take mine on a long trip with the '85 I bought about a month ago but from what I have driven it I know I am going to really love this car. I am sorry I didn't buy one years ago.

Your mpg expectations seem rather low, but YMMV. Congrats on the car.
