OMG! These M3's are a must have!!!

Test drove an '06 M3 today and as the title says, OMG!!! The torque on these things is just unbelievable! I'm thinking of asking Santa (the hubby!) for an early X-mas present. I want this!!!









My question is, the seller claims that this car is a CSL. Is there anyway to tell besides the wheels? Thanks guys!!!

Yes. The CSL was not sold in the USA and looks different than the photos. Do you mean Competition Pkg (ZCP)? The photos are indeed of a ZCP car:
-- Interlagos Blue paint (ZCP only)
-- Wheels (ZCP only)
-- No cruise control. No audio controls on the steering wheel (ZCP only)
Other distinctions on the ZCP:
-- Cross-drilled compound rotors with larger fronts
-- Patterned aluminum interior trim (can't see any pattern in the photo but need a closeup of the trim to see)

+1 agree M3 for me.

That's a great looking car! Easily my favorite color on the E46... I just couldn't justify the premium for the ZCP though, so I "settled" for the car in my sig

csl is gay imho, i say save the cash and get a reg m3...jus boost it wit a chip, n you'll have a csl w/ luxary options...plus xtra cash in your pocket

Help please. What chip are you talking about? Specifics please. I have heard nothing but "bad" about chips...ie ripoff with nothing to show for the money. Thanks, Racerman.

Chips fool the ECU into thinking you have unlocked the engine. It is illegal but many people do it in california when they plug in for eco check it a $10,000 fine right on the spot for a chipped car. A tech where i work knows the code and broke into my ECU and messed around the programing. BMW's use a software (cant remember off the top of my head) that is extremely hard to crack. But back to the subject, all cars don't reach their power limits for reason of engine life. The engine will deteriorate faster if you have chipped it. So if you wanna do it right plug your laptop in and know a guy from a dealer and mess with air/fuel rations or the cheep way, WOT sensor.

Um, I hope you are joking. The CSL is the ultimate M3.

As for luxury, while I can agree that the CSL lacks some features, the M3 is not really a luxurious car. My 540i Sport was MUCH more comfortable. The E39 M5 has the best balance of comfort and sport of any M series car.

Also relevant to the OP... The CSL is unable to meet federal guidelines to get into the country. There are a handful (maybe 3) in the USA now, and are selling in upwards of $60K.

That is a ZCP, and it is a competition package, which is not that different from the regular M3 (Wheels, brakes, track button).

CSL has only 2 colours. Grey and black.

Has also a carbon roof, only SMG, alcantara interior. Different front bumper, carbon airbox etc etc

Not a CSL but that's a CLEAN car.

So I'm guessing this m3 doesn't have an oil separator valve? Look at the top of the valve cover... The hose goes straight into the intake. Unless the OS is built into the intake somewhere else

i doubt the (M) button works...
those wheels are nice though.

I know this is an old thread guys but that car is not a ZHP/competition package. The steering wheel, handbrake, and aluminum trim are wrong.
