intense/concentrated cleaner hose broke

Ok, for unknown reasons, intense/concentrated cleaner hose from the pump cracked and fell off today, what a mess, the whole contents leaked out. Now my fingers are blue as I was trying to stop the leak and put the hose back on, in the dark might I add

I was filling the reservor when it happened.

Here is the wierd thing, the hose is rigid now, it has lost most of its flexability, so when you try to put it back onto the fitting, it won't go.

I guess the fluid took all the plastisizers out of the hose?

The hose runs up to the buggers on the hood, does this mean I have to replace the entire hose, or does anyone know of a way to patch/splice this back together?

I was thinking a run to a plumbing supply shop, or the old Home Depot, but the hose ID will probably be metric, meaning I can not get fittings to fit. Also, since it lost it's elastisity, it may not stay on any fittings I get (maybe I can find a tiny clamp or nylon tie will do)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Anyway, it is fixed with little effort (most of the effort was at home depot finding the right parts as they are always out of the ones you need, and no one is ever working in the dept you need!).

OK, I just had to do it, you know the MasterCard ad.

But, yes, for under $3.00 (including tax, $5.50 if you include the gallon of gas), I was able to do the repair myself, and while the original pipe was not very flexible, the barbed connector just fit in to it and the clear pvc tubing took a little convincing (read elbow grease) to put it on the motor fitting (good thing it was flexible, where as the black OEM pipe just would not stretch and go on to the motor fitting).

Anyway it is good as new, and now I have a lot of spare parts (actually the 10 pack of Toro ¼” barbs were cheaper than the out of stock single piece of the same thing in the plumbing dept.!).

Fixed it in the HD parking lot - 5 minutes tops.
