DIY** 1997 740il heating up after replacing stat
I have a 1997 740 up that I took in for a smog check. The emission.s passed fine but I came to find out that it failed due to a sticking thermostat. I never had any issues with the car heating but of course to pass smog I swapped out the stat. After the install I burped the radiatior to be sure of fluid levels. I drove the car to work the next day in the am and everything seemed fine. When I went home that day I got about half a mile from home to see my coolant temp shoot up very fast. I pulled over and let the engine cool. The fluid level is fine which leads me to beleive the thermostat is crap. Any ideas?? This is all I can think of unless there are some other checks I can do to be sure. Thanks for the help.
