Umnitza V5 Angel Eye Upgrade
Hello everyone,
I have an 2008 550i Sport with the yellow halogen angel eyes. I have been searching this forum for a while now and have read alot about upgrading To LED or HID. I was going with the HID route but I noticed on a lot of pics where most of the light is emitted mainly to the inside ring, closest to the kidney grill. The light is not being dispersed evenly throughout the halo rings, that really looks cheesy to me. I found numerous LED kits, LUX V3 which sells for $245.00, wow , they are beautiful but I don't want to pay that much for some LED bulbs. MTEC3 which is supposedly a 7 watt LED but costs I believe around $150-$200. I went to Umnitza website and found several different variations of LED kits for my LCI setup. After a couple of emails to Umnitza I was sold on the V5 setup for $97.50 plus shipping and an extra $20 for resistors. To my door step roughly $140.00. Hopefully I will be happy with this kit, does anyone have a comment on this particular kit? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance, Attached is a pic for your viewing pleasure. |

Just to be clear, I haven't ordered the Umnitza V5 kit yet, I just narrowed down to this particular setup. Just wanted to get some feedback on my decision .
Thanks |

I jhave tried about 4 different set ups, all have given me simillar results when just replacing the bulbs I get the same super bright inside ring with a dim outer ring. I am being told that the lights that have V shaped design will help that as they get the LED closer to the light tube that carries the light to through the rings. I am looking for a set of those now that wont run me 200.00 bucks for bulbs. Bottom line is that if you are just doing the bulbs you wont get the stupid bright effect that the new BMW's have now. You will need to replace the ring itself...much more expensive. Check out Stealth Auto.

How about installing an HID kit to use as an angel eye upgrade?
Too bright possibly ? |

The lights are not very big so the brightness shouldnt be an issue. I would worry more about housing all the inverters and such in the headlight and having it all heat up. Keep it simple with the upgrade. An LED is likely your best bet. its bright but not super bright like the new cars but is brighter than stock and a better color so the upgrade is worth it. Umnitza has a good product!

I just installed the LED 6 watt bulbs from City Vision, cost me $130 bucks from Modbargains. Selling them for $100, will ship free.

If I may ask, why are you selling? Do you happen to have picture with those bulbs installed on the car? I am looking to buy a set.

Don't have pix taken yet but the pix i have seen don't tell the full story. The reason i am selling is to get the more expensive LUXH8 which is brighter but cost twice as much.

In other words, they aren't as bright [for 6W] as they advertise?

Most pix taken from positions of strength like garage, in the shade or at night. If you can deal with the dim daytime look then it is not as bad as they compliment the xenons nicely at night, dusk or dawn. I still prefer them to the yellow OEM's by far.

The CityVision use Racedash and just rename it.
the ICE V5 is going to just as bright as anything for the Pre-LCI. We have an 11.11 special going on now.

the E60 LCI halogen headlights uses H10W for angel eyes, which we also already stock, it will require a special adapter for installation
