Free cupholder clean up mod

Not sure if it's been posted here before but today I got tired looking at my peeling cupholder and decided to finally do something about it.

Tools:
Heat gun
Rubber glove
10 min of your time.

Take the cupholder out of the car
Remove the spring insert
Heat up one place at at time with the heat gun and while the rubber coating is still warm rub it with your fingers to take it off. I found wearing rubber gloves really helps.

End result is a brand new looking cup holder.

Has anyone tried with the grey colored cup holder? If so, does it look ok? I have my cupholder with scratches an peeling of on certain spots and it looks terrible...

Sorry my ignorance but by heat gun you mean a hair blower??

although a hair dryer does blow hot air.... a hot air (hear) gun can pump out in excess of 1000 degrees of fire starting fury
