Gearbox on my M3
I bought a 57 reg BMW M3 3 months ago, it had 25000 miles on the clock and had 2 previous owners. The other day I noticed it needed an oil top up, after opening the bonnett i noticed that it wasnt shutting properly so I took it in to my local BMW dealers. I received a call back to say it would cost £250 inclusive of vat to fix the problem of replacing the hooks. they also said there were £5k worth of other faults (new clutch, brake discs etc) I stated I just wanted to fix the bonnet and to return the car once this has been done. When I recieved the car there was a loud rattling noise coming from under the car and the gears were not shifting properly. i phoned up to complain that they have damaged my car and they requested for me to bring it in. To cut a long story short they stated I needed a new gearbox...they have quoted me circa £6k inclusive of vat and labour. Is this price in your opinion reasonable? thoughts please.
