Among the first 2014's

Hi all

New to the forums, I ordered my 2014 Z4 35is last week. So new were the '14's that the sales manager had to go to the printed buyer's guides to order up options and some of the codes were hard to find.

I owned a Z4 3.0 it's inaugural year (2006, I believe...), black on black on black. Enjoyed it and totaled it. She gave her life for mine in a 65 mph highway crash. I walked away without a scratch, so now, my kids older and a two seater not silly for the first time in years, I am ordering a new one - a sequel of sorts. This time, glacier silver and red leather.

Thanks to many here who have posted such great info. As a former Mini owner as well, these forums have been invaluable. I will try to be as helpful as others have been and, when my baby comes to life, share her birth story and some pics!

When is the new one scheduled for build? It seems a bit early for them to start doing 2014 cars already.

Agreed - I was a bit bummed that mine would be a 2014 since that is more months of mileage going on the car before the model year even starts.

Status now is "order processed" and I am told everything from 6 to 10 weeks for delivery from the dealer depending on who I ask. No way to even order a 2013 Z now so my guess is they may be retooling the assembly line any day/week now and then the new '14s start.

2014's started production March 1st. Hope to sign papers for mine this weekend. Congrats on the car !

Very cool - I didn't have the guts to go for orange (one of my fav colors) plus my wife would have killed me....

Congrats to everyone that ordered. I ordered mine last night SDrive28i, Deep Sea Blue, Beige, Anthrocite.

I had a question the dealer couldn't answer. Is Siri going to be accessible through a steering wheel button? I didn't opt for the Tech Package. Does anyone here know?

Funny enough my wife supported me 100% I might not have had the guts to rock bright orange but she told me to go for it. Going for the contrasting black roof also.

The black roof seems to be giving my dealer all kinds of fits. Not just your normal option I guess lol.

The silver and red will look amazing - classic combination in my book. When I test drove the Z4 it was Space Gray with red and was also a really strong combo in my opinion. Although I guess it will now be Mineral Gray.

You are right - space grey and red was my choice! I went in to place my order and was very sad that space grey was taken off the list for 2014. The mineral grey, IMHO, is too dull for the Z4. I didn't want the lighter silver but it was that or black and my first Z4 was black, so I needed a change.

That orange does look sweet.... (Having second thoughts z)

I did a lot of reading re BMW apps that come with the tech pack over the weekend and I didn't see anything about Siri. I would be interested in that too.

If anyone knows how it can be accessed (other than by holding your phone, obviously) I would love to know.

I must have test drove the last of the new 2013's.

I'm trading in a Space Gray / Chestnut (think red brick) 335xi. I really love the Gray but got hit twice in that car. If they can't see that bright orange then they must be trying to hit me.

lol - well I honestly have no idea. Much more likely just stupid drivers. However, I remember the lady taking my information for one of the claims asked me if my car was small or hard to see. Which got me thinking.

I was worried because of the color comment... See my 3 cars are all Space Gray so...

I ordered mine - (traded in my 2009 Orion Silver - Red interior) - for a New Valencia Orange with Hyper Orange and extended leather - Mine was ordered on March 1, it has been built - and is on a ship as I type this- should be in my hands 2nd week of April -

I will post some Photos once I get it -

I also ordered a set of the 293 rims, and will put on Michilins NON Run flats - will sell or just about give away the rims and tires that come on the vehicle - 515 rims, and the new run flats- anyone interested in them let me know - have no idea of what they are worth, but if any one is interested - either message me here or send me a private message -

Ughh finally mines in the system. 3.5is in Valencia Orange w/Contrasting Black Roof. Basically all options except extended leather, 19" wheels and concierge.

Doing an ED on it - were waiting on dates but hoping for 3/4 week of May. Especially because plane ticket prices go bonkers in June.

How long did yours stay in order processed versus moving to in production?

Mine was in production almost right away - don't know why - ! When you track it yourself, you can not get the detail the dealership can get. They can tell you exactly where are car is - and if on a ship the name of the ship and where it will dock. Mine should be at the dock in New Jersey on April 5th - dealer tells me I will have it the following week !

If you know anyone that wants a set of rims and run flats - let me know - (515 rims) - photo attached here. Make offer - very reasonable - have put on Turbine type wheels as I had on my 2009 and with Michelins Pilots !

Hi all

Called my dealer today and as told my Z4 has another two weeks before beginning production. Bummer. Something about Z4's being held up by a week due to other models being prioritized on the production lines. Not sure if that is true or not. In any case, looks like middle of May for me. Anyone else gets yours sooner, I would love to know.

An additional reference point. Just heard from the dealer yesterday...the 2014 Z428 that I ordered will be arriving at Port Hueneme (in SoCal) on 4/17, which means it should be at the dealer a few days later.

SIRI is not going to work with the button on the steering wheel... At least not on my 2013... It has something to do with the way the button talks to the bluetooth.

You should also know that if you are dealing with an iPhone 5, there seems to be an app conflicting with playback after disconnecting the phone from the cable while it was playing music. Oftentimes, I get back to the car, plug back in and the music plays through the phone, not the car... have to close all apps and reboot the phone for it to work again.... frustrating.
