Speed limiter on 2012 640i?

I haven't had enough road yet, but I can testify that the car passes through 120 as swiftly as it accelerates through 90!

What's the car like when it hits the limiter? Does it just maintain the speed to which it is limited? Some limiters strangle the car for fuel until slowing takes place.
