What size battery; 2005 X5 4.8is ?
What size battery does a 2005 BMW X5 4.8is take? Also, how do you open the back tail gate when the battery is drained? Outside of removing the air pump and battery cables are there any other special instructions for installing a battery in the X5? Thank you.

Group 49 Battery
You need a Group 49 battery. Make sure it has a vent and please hook it up to your exist port in the compartment.
Open your hood and apply power to the jump start posts to allow you to open the rear tail gate. If you are into DYI , glue the rubber gasket to the spare tire retaining round metal bracket and cut the slot out to allow the bracket to insert. Otherwise the gasket always falls down the hole and doesnt help protect the rim. After you remove the battery and reinstall a new one...you may need to reset some things. Turning your steering wheel lock to lock will accomplish this for you. Reset the clock as normal. regards, George |

Bmw x5
Thank you for your reply on the battery. Fortunatly I was able to charge and it's holding the charge just fine. It's the original battery that came in the car dated 12/05. How long can they last?
Also have another question. I noticed a coolant leak coming from the sensor located on the passenger side bottom radiator hose. Have you ever run into this? Is this aomething I can replace? It's a small sensor right where the radiator hose connects to the radiator. Thank you. |

OEM batteries typically last four to five years. You should replace yours now.
