Jonathan - when do I order my car?

Hello to all,

I am new to this forum and I am researching the process of buying a 2013 BMW X5M through the Spartanburg Delivery program.

I want to take the delivery of my car at the end of October of 2012. Specifically after October 26th, 2012.

When should I place the order for my X5M through my dealer?

Thanks a lot in advance and looking forward to be a part of this community!

Sorry for the delay in responding... I've been pretty busy and haven't been in the office much lately.

To take delivery here after October 26, 2012; you'll need to have your dealer order you a vehicle that will be produced in week 40 (Oct. 5th) or later. As a rule of thumb, for products built at the local plant, the earliest delivery date here will usually be about 2 weeks after production.

Make sure to tell your CA to put in the "Special Notes" section of the reservation that you would like to take delivery on Oct. 26th or later so they can schedule accordingly.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up

Thank you for the response, Jonathan.

In your experience, how long, on average, does it take to build a customer specific X5M from the order date?

My dealer tells me that for the M vehicles it's around 2 months or so.

Let's say I want to pick up the 2013 X5M on the weekend of Oct 27-28th 2012. The reason I need to pick up the car after Oct 26th is to take advantage of the BMW CCA offer of the car discount, since I signed up as a member on Oct 26th of 2011.

When do you think I should place the order through my dealer with this specific timeline in mind?

Thank you so much for your help

You're welcome...

The timeline most likely depends on when you order verses when the vehicle is scheduled to be built. Unfortunately I'm not sure how far out the dealers get allocation and how far in advance an order can be placed . Maybe another customer or CA on here could answer that one for you.

Just a heads up, you may want to make sure the delivery is about 1 week after 10/26. I believe they go off of the bill of sale date. This would have to be done prior to taking delivery here, so be sure to account for that.
