I bought my 2011 CPO 335d in September with 15K miles on it. I've got 26K miles on it now, with no unscheduled service issues so far. First service at 24K was uneventful, except that I took the DEF down to the wire. Got a little rattle in the back that I need to chase down before I take the car in for its next service. Other than that a joy to own and drive so far.

Not related to a part failure, but I've also had to replace two windshields.

so far with about 29k miles on my less than 2yo 2011 I have had the following

1 wheel bearing (rear passenger side
1 wind shield (rock)
1 wheel speed sensor (front left if I recall correctly)

bearing ans speed sensor warranty, windshield out of pocket.

thats it other than routine maint.

and if I were in the market for a new car today it would be the 335d (since I cant get a 535d)

Are you trying to play music from the USB drive? That's not a supported function of the glove box USB port--it's only purpose AFAIK is to import/export music from the iDrive hard drive.

What was the symptom when the wheel bearing went out? Vibration/noise?

typical grinding noise that changed when turning right or left, was pretty obvious

GB - No, I loaded music on the USB drive to transfer MP3's to the hard drive. My problem is that iDrive doesn't even recognize anything is plugged into the USB port. I've tried three different USB drives. Two were brand new. I am all Apple products at home, but that shouldn't matter. The USB drives were formatted as FAT32 when purchased. I know there is power to the port, because the light on the USB drive illuminates when inserted.

My SES light came on while traveling in another state over Christmas. Out of state dealer wanted to keep the car to diagnose and repair, but said it was OK to drive. Next morning light went off and stayed off till I got dealer to look at it a week later at home. Dealer found code 4035 stored for metering valve per SIB110210. Tech cleaned metering valve and reset light. Covered under warranty. No problem since; now at approx. 5500 miles.

New forum member. Been reading for a about a month since I got my 2011 335d.

Bad news, today with just over 3k miles, the SES light came on and the car started to run really lumpy. Fortunately my dealer got me in right away and they called today that there was a bad fuel injector which they replaced.

Makes sense with how it was running, but I was surprised an injector went bad.

8000 miles: Rubbing sound in steering column during tight turns and parking space maneuvers. After 4.5 hours' labor it was solved with Lubrizol steering fluid additive:

Quote:
CUST STATES THERE IS A RUBBING NOISE INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AND THEY'RE TURNING IN TO PARKING SPOTS. CHECK AND REPORT.
VERIFIED- TROUBLESHOOT NOISE- WHEN LISTENING WITH STETOSCOPE IT APPEARS THAT THE NOISE IS COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE STEERING SHAFT, R+I LEFT KICK PANEL ABOVE PEDALS TO ACCESS RUBBER BUSHINGS- PEEL OFF RUBBER BOOT AND LUBRICATE PLATIC BUSHINGS. NOISE SEEMS TO GO AWAY BUT THEN AFTER SHORT TEST DRIVE COMES BACK AGAIN. R+I STEERING SHAFT, PULL UP PLASTIC SLEEVE ON STEERING GEAR AND LUBRICATE UNDERSIDE, REASSEMBLE AGAIN, NOISE SEEMS TO BE GONE BUT COMES BACK AFTER SHORT ROAD TEST.
ADD LUBRIZOL TREATMENT TO POWER STEERING SYSTEM. RECHECK- NOISE SUBSTANTIALLY LESS OR ALMOST GONE. RECOMMEND DRIVING SO THE FLUID CAN LUBRICATE ALL SEALS.

12k miles and two issues repaired outside of routine. 1) A/C fan belt along with pulley system. They replaced pulley and tensioner and belt. No problems since. 2) Start/Stop button was peeling and was replaced. Told wifey to use fingers and not long nails to start/stop it. No more peeling now!

I also had mine replaced @ 8000 mls. Right front. Mine sounded as if I had a noisy tire. At around 45-55 mph.

Last month with 4,900 KM to go before the next oil change my LOW DEF warning came on so I bought a 1 gal can and poured it in and it's all good to go for now till the oil change.

So far with 75,000 KM the D has been a great joy to drive and I do not see any suitable replacement unless the F30 comes with a 320d which might be tempting in a few years.

Front warped rotors replaced around 9K.
SES light-Metering valve replaced.
AC belt replaced.

-One Bridgestone summer tire replaced but this is due to a road hazard and can't fault BMW for it.

I'm starting to wonder if I have a flaky RF wheel bearing as well. I hear more noise turning left than to the right, which would indicate to me the bearing is a little noisy. Also, first thing in the morning there's a noticeable clunk from that corner as I back out of the driveway onto the street. I've got a big road trip coming up in May, too, and I don't want any issues.

Got a adaptive headlight fault that wouldn't clear today. Could of lived with it but the damn warning is prominent in the middle of the panel and it doesn't go away. Took it in at 11:30am got it back all fixed and washed at 5pm with a loaner!

steper motor control module had failed.

It sounded as of a tire was bad. Louder than normal tire vibration noise. Noticable at 45-55 mph.

Thanks. Sorry I noticed the same question was already asked/answered. Either tire vibration noise or a grinding noise when turning.

I had this done too, right around 12k miles. The squealing was ridiculous, and it took 4 dealer visits to get it resolved, but they ended up doing the belt and pulleys (I think there's a service bulletin out on this?)

At around 6k I had a wheel replaced... it was cracked from hitting a pot hole. Tire/Wheel insurance covered it no problem.

That's all! Loving my D... trouble-free, fun to drive, and the best car I've ever owned, hands down!

Have put 7K miles on my former serivce loaner D and has not been back to the dealer since I picked it up (excluding the screw in a tire). But what do you mean about the mileage issue? You mean the OBC? Mine reads about 5% low (I get better than displayed), this can be corrected?

I had a sensor go bad around Mar-2010 and one specific to being a diesel, triggered an SES light. My guess is around 8-9k miles on the car but can't find the paper work to verify. The part number for the sensor was 13-62-7-808-013 and description was differential pressure sensor for exhaust system. That is the only diesel related problem my car has had. That sensor turned into a very frustrating experience that lasted around 2 months(1 month solid at the dealer) to finally get it resolved.

I did have some interior rattles and even my front dome light "fell" and had to be completely replaced but I think that is it. Had a low oil light once, they topped off the oil for free while doing other service. Had a low DEF fluid once but while it was far from time(mileage wise) for an oil change it was to the point of the yearly change so that was topped off for free as part of the oil change. I have had very randomly issues with the car not seeming to fully engage into reverse but they never could find a problem and not sure it even happened after the last software update to the car. I had a windsheild wiper blade break and become unusable but I just waited until the yearly oil change and had it replaced under the yearly maintenance.

So basically if I drove the car more back then I'd been faced with a need for windsheild wiper blades and DEF fluid well before the need for an oil change happened. So no idea if I'd had to pay for that out of pocket or if they'd been nice.
