Hey I have no plates front or back
![]() I bought the car back in late August when I was living in California. California has cut back on government (DMV) resources so much that they say it takes up to 6 months before your plates arrive. I since moved back to Washington State and still haven't received a plate even though the tabs arrived. All I have is a piece of paper attached to the front windshield which is atypical for Washington as the police officer who pulled me over said (actually he said he was staring at and admiring the car for a few minutes before he realized it didn't have a permanent or temporary plate - he was very cool about the whole thing.) At some point the great state of California may bless me with a plate and registration statement so I can register locally in Washington but I'm not complaining in the meantime as I like not having plates ![]() I was at the local (Bellevue) dealer this week and met a gent there who has been driving a mint custom e36 M3 for 15 years with no front plate. He's averaged a ticket every 5 years for no plate and plans to not bother getting one. I may do the same after I get local plates. Last edited by rdollie; 11-10-2011 at 11:16 AM. Reason: typo |

As of today I've got a front plate got a $200 ticket with no fixing it unless I show proof that it is permantly attached (sigh) with appropriate bracket. Texas is needing money I guess.
Anyways the CF is all from BMW's performance line. I had the dealer do it as part of the deal. When I was it was OEM and looked that good it was a no brainer and now if it comes off in 4 years it's on my warranty Hehehe. Thanks for the props guys when I get a Day off will take and post more |

How did that happen in 2 days? Don't they usually pull you over for something else like speeding and tack it on?
When I first moved to Plano earlier in the year, I asked the SA at Classic BMW about attaching the plate for me - he said that most people don't, since they like the look. I took that to mean that the authorities aren't too vigilant about it. But it was tacked on when I was pulled over for something else 2 months ago. I'm going to resell the car, so I don't want to put it on - otherwise, I probably would to avoid the attention and hassle.

Oops sorry the blackout grille was BMW performance too. The rear spoiler is BMW performance but it was hard to fine on the website. The CF matches well. There was a 1m there when she hit her front plate with some aftermarket cf that looked kinda looked like decals. so if you do it make sure the weave matches and from the same manufact.
Why can't the bimmerfest app show what you are typing above the keyboard hehe Mike |
