SCCA question
On a 2012 135i w/ 7 speed DCT
If you put the 7 speed DCT in manual, then use the paddle shifter to up-shift to 2nd, will the transmission hold second by using a limiter, or will the car up-shift to 3rd automatically to protect the engine? Thanks Chris

Chris,
My only experience with the BMW DCT was in a M3 at M school but I got yelled at (over walkie talkie) for repeatedly bumping the rev limiter. I don't think it will shift in manual until you tell it to. The rev limiter protects the engine. Jim

Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what I was hoping for. In SCCA you rarely get over 60MPH, so I would rather that the car hold 2nd. If, on occasion, I hit the limiter, that is ok. Chris
